Best fog light bulb to match look of Osram CBI bi-xenon headlight bulb?
I am planning to replace the stock bi-xenon headlight bulbs with the Osram CBI 5000K bulbs, apparently they offer a more whitish light as compared to the warm light of the stock bulbs. Since I will be ordering these online I figured I'd buy matching fog light bulbs at the same time and save on shipping. Can anyone confirm the specific bulb (with website link, if possible) for the fogs which would be the closest match to the Osram bulbs, looks-wise? Its for a non-M-sport F10.
I've tried searching the forum but most results are for matching the fog lights to the stock bulbs, not the Osram bulb.

Almost impossible to match cbi xenon bulb. The closest will be using HID kit for the fog. There are some aftermarket halogen bulbs 5000k and up and claimed to be perfect match ... believe me, I tried most of them and they are not even close. One example is Philips Diamond Vision 5000k. It actually is more purplish when reflected off the fog light housing.
I have osram cbi and uses piaa plasma yellow ion. I am currently considering changing out the halogen fog into LED fog. Just waiting for the price to come down a bit. This is the best matching to cbi ... in my opinion. http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...t_product=2789 Not sure where you will be sourcing yours CBI but I bought mine from powerbulbs.com and use coupon code "hidplanet" to get 15% off. Shipping is included in the price. |

Thanks for the info. Yikes, $400 for fogs? But I guess its not just bulbs but the whole assembly. Do these TM Tuning lights fit in the F10 bumper without any modification? Anyone here with first-hand experience?
So what you are saying is getting just any 5000K bulbs will not be enough to match the CBI bulbs? Are the fogs normal halogens?

I tried experimenting with this as well. Tried 5000K HID from DDM tuning and it is whiter and bluer than the CBI's. Right now I have Philips Diamond Vision and while close, it is still a bit bluer than the CBI's. I wonder if the Philips Crystal Vision ones will be closer.

All depends on how picky you are. I know LED fog would most likely match the CBI dead on. But if you are not picky, try the Diamond vision to judge yourself.
btw, the led fog is the entire assembly with ballast. Just like the HID kit with ballast as well. At least this LED fog is Made in Germany (Made by Nolden who supplied to various aftermarket tuners as well as the European car makers). $400 is already reduced price. When it first came out about 1.5 years ago, it was selling for $600. Since that time, it has came down a lot. It does go on sale every 4 months or so. The cheapest was $299 and regular sale is at $349 ($50 off). Quote:

I am currently waiting for delivery of the Osram CBI D1S bulbs, and the purchase includes a free pair of Osram W5W side-light bulbs. Are these compatible with the F10?

I've been told that GP Thunder 7500s are cool. Don't know much about this stuff but when I saw them in person they looked pretty nice!

I would think so. As far as I know, the fog light bulbs are different between M-sport(H11/55w) and non M-sport(H8/35w) models but the headlights are the same.
Can anyone confirm if MotiveMods are a reliable source to purchase Osram CBI D1S bulbs? Also, what is the difference between CBI and CBI Xenarc? http://www.motivemods.com/OSRAM-Cool...sr-cbi-d1s.htm

Retrofitsource has a much better price. They will have to be special order as they don't normally carry D1S version. Note: Reason why they are cheaper ... they are packaged in a retail box.

So how does one place a special order with them? What is their better price? How is the retail box different and does it matter?

go to the site and email the sales (Matt) the type of bulb you want and he will reply back to you with price, shipping, payment info, etc.
I asked the price last year and I remembered it was around $200 for set of 2. the bulb he gets is bulk, thus no retail box. you can also ask him for any product difference to confirm. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/ |
