Purchasing a CPO 2013 528i XDrive, previous blue smoke issue?

I'm about to purchase a 2013 528i xdrive with 40k miles, and getting a really good deal. The car had issues with blue smoke that is claimed to be already fixed . What would be the reason for the blue smoke. Is it something that I should be worried about?

Thanks

Blue smoke, I believe, is typically a sign of oil burning. Could have oil puddled up during startup, and when started, the oil is sucked up and burned off. Could be a leaking valve seal, broken ring, or a few other things. I would want to know what was causing it and how it was remedied before buying the car for sure

A friend of mine told me that turbo oil line could be the problem. I just did some google search and it looks there are quite a few people who had similar problems on f10s.

Meanwhile, I took your advice and just shoot an email to the dealer (asked for details)

Thanks

Very possible as well, could be a few things regarding the oil. But yeah the dealer should be able to explain in detail what happened and what was done to fix it. Then you can make an informed decision about if you are comfortable with it. I would just add that there seems to be a ton of f10s available right now, so don't just settle because you're getting a good deal. Sometimes saving a bit upfront will cost you much more down the road. I just got done searching for my f10 and there was plenty to choose from, with huge savings if you take your time and shop around. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Yeah, the only thing that makes me relieved is the CPO thing. I know cars are going through a comprehensive check to be a CPO. The warranty ends on may 2019 or 100k miles. My criteria was to find something under $26k with premium package, cold weather, navigation, park assist, back up camera with tan or gray interior, also no accidents.

I narrowed my options down to 3 (even went up to $28k) but could not find what I want. The one that i found has all the packages , options that I want (other than the color-was my second choice).

Understandable, sounds like you have a good idea what you are looking for and willing to accept. I'm sure the market is different everywhere, for me here there were almost too many. But like I said, Id wait to hear how the dealer explains it, and talk to them about any guarantees they have on the repairs. Again, good luck, post some pictures once you find the right one

I just got an email from he dealer "The issue was white smoke after a cold start, the remedy was to replace oil feed line for exhaust turbocharger. Oil pipe inlet."

They told me that they had the paperwork for it

I believe that was standard work for that issue.

I thought most 2013+ got that problem cured.

I purchased the vehicle and I don't see the blue smoke so I assume it is fixed.
