I've always found the front fascia of the F10 looks like open drawer, nice to know that am not the only one to think that...

Audi's Front is more aggressive, but I don't like the headlights... other than that BMW is the winner.

Why does audi is one step ahead of BMW in terms of power... i know the 550xi is a match for the a6, but it always lacks the torque... bummer

Audi is tackling cutting weight with their cars. Great news.

This may be the end of 5 series reign!! But ,if it is so, audi deserves to win!!

They are both above the E-Classe. I don't like the pop-up screen on the A6, I think it doesn't fit very well. In my opinion the F10 is better looking both in the interior and exterior, but audi has improved...

END OF COMPARISON. Audi's will always come in #3. They are always playing catch up. At the end of the day I will always find myself behind a BMW, the Ultimate Driving Machine.

I like both cars and I'm in the market for a mid-size quick AWD sedan. I had the 550ix with M-package in mind until i saw the new Audi A6. I will have to wait and see what they will do with their V8 engine.

If they can manage to squeeze a 450HP in a 3700lbs or so sedan, they have got my money.

I have drove a non sport 535 and a A6 2.0T FWD on the track back to back. Believe it or not, the A6 was more of a driver's car. If Audi improves on the driving characteristics of the older A6, they might have a winning formula and many BMW drivers that have the chassis communication and driving pleasure on their mind will switch camps.

Audi A6 3.0TFSi (C7) - 300bhp, 440Nm, 0-60mph in 5.5 secs
BMW 535i (F10) - 301bhp, 400Nm, 0-60mph in 5.8 secs

Audi S6 (C7) - likely to be 450bhp+ and <5 secs
BMW 550i (F10) - 401bhp, 600Nm, 4.8 secs

Curious, where did you get those 0-60mph figures?

Audi A6 3.0TFSi (C7) - from Audi release on the new A6
BMW 535i (F10) - Parkers.co.uk. They 5.8 secs, BMW say 6.0 secs (checked the press release and official data on this forum)

Audi S6 (C7) - Based on rumours and educated guess by looking at old S6
BMW 550i (F10) - Again, Parkers.co.uk, they said 4.8 secs and BMW said 5.0 secs

The reason I didnt use official data is because there are other numbers floating around and I know BMW is usually quite conservative with their figures. Look at the 335i and real-life testing.

I wonder how they are equiped. Never been to Parkers before will have to check it out. I was curious where you got them because these times always remain quite elusive to me. I can tell you that my 550 blows the doors off of my 535 and it feels faster then 4.8 and mine has the sport transmission.

Yeah I dont doubt that. BMW times (and other manufacturers) are usually understated. If you find any reviews and videos or anything post them up. It will be interesting to see.

I am in the same boat as You though I am only interested in the 535 range of engines.Though I expected the A6 to look much better than this I guess I will wait for an year or two.I prefer the 535 interiors though.I hope the test drives are available by Mid 2011.

When someone mentions that they are considering a 550 but they are going to check out the A6, I cant help but think they are confused. There is no sedan that compares to the 550 without digging considerably deeper into the wallet. Not opinion, fact.

Looks aside, does no one else think that an Audi lacks soul? I guess you have to own one first. As a life long VAG fan it pains me to say it but their cars just have a 'meh' quality about them. Technically accomplished, well designed, all that stuff. But dull. For that reason I'll look beyond appearances and never own another.

For it is written. Audi will forever be a runner up.

That "Just a car" kind of feel to it? Haha, yes. I concur completely. No lines, no visual appeal besides that robot boyish look to them.

For some reason, the Audis (even more so with the new A6) always looks crying to me. And also reminds me of this:

You don't think the v8 variant of the A6 will be compared to the 550?

Not even close in any respect, it almost pains me to give credit to the question by replying, I am actually considering deleting this post as I feel I am being sucked in. Besides isnt this a BMW board?

Do yourself and anyone like you a BIG favor and get off the board, go buy a 550i with all the right options on it and understand for yourself what is possible to own while spending less then 100k. Dont read these meathead reviews, half ass done by people who wouldnt know a car if it ran over them.

This new Audi line is going to create the big absence from me so I can wait for all these "Audi is going to dethrone BMW" discussions to disappear, my time would be better spent gouging my face with a fork.

INCONCEIVABLE!
