2015 f10 driver seat controls separated from seat

Hi.

The driver seat controls have separated from the side of the seat. Anyone have this issue and can give me some advice on fixing it?

Thanks.

Most likely will have to replace that outer cover. Start from the back. Remove the whole cover and inspect the retaining clips. If it's broken, you will have to replace the cover.

This is the first I've seen on the f06/f12/f13...but it is very similar to an issue with the e38 7 series and e39 5 series. Back then, if the driver/passenger put their weight on the side panel as the entered/exited the vehicle...the panel would crack where it screwed into the front side of the seat. The panel would have to be replaced. Back then, the attempt to re-glue the broken part usually ended up with it breaking again.

I would suggest pulling up the diagram for the seat to see where the hardware is located that keeps it attached to the seat. And if the reason it broke was due to pressure on the side panel...you may want to consider the position of the seat and how you enter & exit the vehicle. If you are pressing down on the panel with your thigh/leg or hand as you enter/exit...you may want to reconsider how you enter/exit the vehicle without putting pressure on the side panel.

Good luck.

If you have to replace the panel, try to find a used one. BMW will try to sell a passenger one as part of a set.

I had this happen to me while the car was at the dealership for unrelated warranty repair. When I got the car back I pointed to SR that seat control panel was separated and they fixed it in 30-40 min. I don't know what they did to fix it, but considering that it was fast, it shouldn't be difficult. No problems with it ever since (over 3 years).
