anyone heard anything else about spec change for cars built Jan 2011 onwards? noticed a few other brokers now removed heated front seats from the options lists suggesting its going to be standard soon.

Yes.....finally confirmed spec on my 520d F11 msport today at my dealer and I had optioned heated seats but these are now "foc" ....nice one! Expecting delivery mid end Feb so will probably wait for Mar 1st for new 11 reg.

thanks for the confirmation.....weird that the broker sites reflect this now yet the BMW configurator guess takes BMW's web team a bit longer to make changes than the simpler broker web sites.

well heated front seats FOC...that's £300 i might save or offset against the VAT rise

My dealer advised that if I did this BMW would make me pay the 2.5% price hike that comes into effect January (on top of the 2.5% vat).

I'm taking deliver Feb 20. The new erg would be nice but paying an extra £1750 for the privilege.....?

If your dealer says they will honour the 2010 price pls let me know.

I checked this with an Irish dealer and was told that the heated seats would only become standard on 6 cylinder models.

As mine will be a 520D for Jan delivery (with €400+ paid for this option) I'm puzzled whether I'll benefit or not because the Irish and UK spec F10s are the same (based on same brochure for both markets).

I am paying 20% vat but the invoice price is this year. My dealer is happy for me to delay registration to march 1st.....no-brainer really if car is delivered mid Feb it is tempting to pick up straight away but I think 'sensible' to delay and wait for 11 reg!

A few points

1) All dealers should be offering a VAT freeze as long as the car is collected before March 1st. Nobody should be paying 20% VAT for a car delivered in Jan or Feb

2) I got 9% off my 535d M Sport and a decent price on my px. If you guys believe that bs about them working on a 5% margin you need to wise up. On line broker sites like www.broadspeed.co.uk will offer you 8% off straight away. If you had no px you could negotiate hard and get over 10%, my friend got 14% off his X6.

Option 494 Seat heating, front becomes standard for all 5 Series Saloon and Touring models from January 2011 production. Additionally, option 6FL USB audio interface becomes standard for all 520d models from January 2011 production.

I got 11% below MSRP on my 2011 535 M-sport, including the holiday rebate credit, here in So. California. Car was ordered to my specs for March dellivery.
