Exclamation 535i Battery warning light!!

Hi,

I don't understand why am I getting battery warnings for it discharging? The car doesn't even have a total of 10,000 miles yet. How can I fix that? Is it covered under BMW warranty? If I need a battery charger. Does BMW provide that under warranty or is that on our own expense? Is there a quick fix for this without involving the dealer?

Thanks for reading this post and your help.

I guess the question is how many starts you do every day, and how long you drive between starts.

if you don't do unnormal amount of starts and really short trips you could have a failing alternator or rectifier, this will be covered by warranty.

Abnormal - "unnormal" isn't a word.

OP - If you are getting a warning your battery has a problem or you don't drive enough to charge it. You may need to have a trickle charger installed. Are you locking the car and putting the electronics to sleep when you park it?

1. Take the car on a nice long drive. Let the battery recharge from driving and braking.

2. Disable Auto Start/Stop while doing the above-mentioned long trip.

3. If you don't drive more than a few miles on a regular basis, consider a trickle charger.

It could be as simple as the battery being low on charge if you drive very short and frequent trips, also with ASS enabled. Also make sure you're turning off the auxiliary power when shutting down the car, as mentioned above - push once for engine off, again to shut down the electronics. More obvious things include avoiding running the electronics often without the engine on.

If all of the above doesn't make any difference, take it to the dealer.
