I can't catch a break - climate system down
After several fairly major issues over the past year on my 75k mile 550i, i get in my car this morning, and the entire center climate and audio control system is dark. All the buttons are non-responsive. All steering wheel controls work, but adjusting volume with the dial, heated seats engagement, fan speed, etc. are non-responsive. All the LEDs are completely dark.
Anyone experience this before? Is there a fuse I can check? Or am I SOL and need to get a shop to take a look and troubleshoot? Any guidance is much appreciated. I love my car but one thing after the other and it is becoming less reliable by the minute... |

I found this old thread and I'll check on the suggestions offered there. https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1618859 And for those that don't know how to remove the panel I found this video: I'll report back if I am successful with my troubleshooting. |

Update:
I tackled removing the radio/climate panel based on the info in the referenced post and I am happy to report after blowing out the blue connector in the back and reseating it, the panel is successfully working! A huge relief it was not something else as I am sure something more complicated and I would not have been able to perform it myself. Thank you to the forum members for posting their experiences and the power of search! |

Sounds like you did "catch a break" for the repair.
75-80K miles is about when BMW parts start to wear out and can start to cost for repairs. Other than time, this one cost no cash. That is a good day. |
