Exclamation Brake wear reported on iDrive after (only) 1400 miles

My 2013 535xDrive has only 1400 miles I've had time to put on it since the end of Dec '12.

iDrive is now reporting rear brakes needing service in 6,000 miles

I've not driven it aggressively or hard ... I'll get to my dealer SA as soon as time permits so they can investigate.

My e60 brake wear was no where near these numbers (rear pads had more than 25% pad left when I traded it at 66K miles.) And I'm not driving this new 5'er any differently.

Maybe it's a sensor or computer issue?? Has anyone else experienced this situation?

UPDATE:
Just talked to my dealer SA - he told me there is a s/w update / bulletin BMW will issue in March to correct some issues in reading info.
