My 2014's been doing that since 3/17. It doesn't happen all the time and usually after I've driven the car, let it sit awhile, when it's cooler outside than in the garage and I open the garage door. My dealer hasn't been able to replicate it so they can't fix it. I found a BMW mechanic online (can't remember off-hand who it was) who said it's some kind of a pressure equalizing valve (something like that) in the A/C system. After almost 5 years there has been no apparent effect on the climate control. I also always use the automatic function.

Well good to know, because one of the guys from Kies Motorsports said roundabout same thing and he had similar thing happen and said it wasn't anything to worry about

Nothing to really check. I've seen it in several different cars. It will stop if you lock the vehicle. Usually it's the motor inside the throttle body that makes the noise

I have had cars do this in the past and it has been the fuel system causing the issue. It would occur after driving and it would stop instantly if i took off the gas cap. Removing the gas cap would cause pressure to suck in not out as you would think it would do. It was some kind of vapor lock or something but you may wanna remove the gas cap while its happening and see what it does. Hope this helps you and good luck.

I've read both of those suggestions and tried them both; it had no effect.

This is the guy that told me it was a valve in the climate control:
