how strong are forgestars

i know that they are great for what they cost but knowing Downtown LA roads, i am very skeptical

Anyone know how long i can last with those wheels?

I FINALLY SAVED ENOUGH FOR A SET OF WHEELS $2500-3000 and i dont wanna waste my money on some wheels that are going to crack and bend

should I save more and go with forged wheels?

From what i've read on the forums not very strong. I believe they are just gravity cast wheels which is the weakest form for wheels.

If you search the web you'll see numerous threads about people bending them. I was very close to ordering these for my old E90 and living in NY I needed something that was very strong. Ended up with a set of BBS wheels instead.

Are you sure about this? Forgestars are supposedly flow formed or am I missing something? I have read that they are great wheels.

Low pressure cast>> gravity cast>> flow formed>> forged

i have forgestars. have bent and cracked them multiple time (not to say that i didnt hit nasty potholes with them though)
I believe only the faces are flow formed or something like that.

i've had my forgestar f10's for 1 1/2 years now and have not had any issues with bending. Granted im a very careful and cautious driver but i've hit some nasty potholes and it's held up sine no problem. Just keep in mind no rim is "bend proof". If you hit something hard enough any wheel will bend! I've bent some volk te37's before on a mild pothole that I thought it would have handled but it didn't. If this is going to be a problem for you, you might want to rethink your whole offset and size. Running a thicker sidewalled tire will help. Also improving your steering reaction while on the road will be your best bet LOL

I could be wrong or things have changed with their process but i remember there was a thread asking vendors to provide proof that they were form flowed and all of a sudden there was no response when prior to the question they were flocking all over that thread trying to push those wheels. There was also a question of what load rating the F14's were certified to handle it was a lot lower than what it should be for a big sedan. Again things could have changed but there were enough posts on multiple car forums where people complained about bending/cracking the F14's that steered me away from them. I loved that design too so it wasn't a easy choice for me at the time.

Xdeedubx is actually right. if you hit a huge pothole very hard you will bend any rim from any wheel manufacturer. A 1pc forged wheel is the lightest and strongest wheels, but I like 3pc wheels because you can order a new lip or inner barrel.

Shin: Go down to Rennen in LA and see my boy Weiz. (EAA Pacific) makes Rennen,Donz,Savini, D2 forged and a lot of wheels for other companies They are the largest manufacturer on the west coast and the wheels are made on a 10K ton forging process!!. I will get you a set of FORGED 21'' Step Lip or Hook Lip wheels (Only) for $3700 or 20's for $3300 firm. If you're serious, please call me @ (718)791-5194 and i'll get you the discount because you seem serious.

I heard forgestars are form flowed. Heard that they are good wheels. I priced out a set of forgestars and vossens and they are about the same price give or take. Not sure why people talk up Vossens like they are the best wheels ever made. They are just cheap cast wheels that are made in Taiwan/China that cost $2k+. A little ridiculous.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to go with iForged then.

What is the price difference between iForged and Forgestar? Every single website I check for iForged says "call us for the price".

I've had my F14's for 33,000 miles now, and as far as I know they're still in great shape, I dont feel any vibration or see any obvious bent. I'm careful driving but have hit some nasty potholes. I love the design and you really cant beat it for the price.

Order time is horrendous though, at least mine was.

Cheers!

^^ Yes order times are insane for the F14's when i inquired about them. It as something like 3-4 months which is nuts. I do agree for the money they are beautiful wheels. Just wish they had a forged option. Those of us on the east coast need some diesel wheels with the potholes we have here.

I have Forgestars and the wait was 3 months. I have had them on my car a couple of months now. The only nice surprise is that the wheels are now hubcentric (72.56mm hubs) , not requiring the hub rings like before.

+1 wheels are presently hubcentric. yes the wait times in the past have been long but have improved. with those we have set up with Forgestars there have been no negative feedback. we've had 19" F14s on a previous shop E60 545 with nos, 20" F14s on our previous shop E60 M5. presently on our interlagos blue E92 M3 we have 19" CF10s as a street setup. great experience with these wheels, and we wouldnt recommend anything that we wouldnt use ourselves =)

Have been running my set for about a year now here in SF bay in the suburbs as well as downtown. I'm super careful but did manage to push a lip out a bit from a nasty pothole on the freeway that was unavoidable. As others have statted - any wheel is going to bend or be damaged depending on how big the pothole is or how you hit it. My "bend" is at the lip and was from the rebound pressure at the bead but can only be seen if you are looking at it from the perfect angle. Some of my friends running multi piece forged still bend lips and barrels - some have even had the center barrel seal leak (iforged). I think if you decide to sport 20s+ you should hope for the best, drive with caution, but don't be surprised if you end up fixing or replacing a wheel. Forgestars - given the price and offset options, I'd buy them again. G luck man -

Yeah I bought them but still waiting for his service guys to remove them off his car. Until then I can't sell my wheels. But if you're interested like I said I can work with you on pricing. You won't get a better price on 21s with tires and tpms! Esp for a mint set!
