Emaps

Am looking at getting the car remapped when it's got more than 98 miles on the clock

I understand about warranty but have mapped BMWs in the past without incident (maybe lucky) so don't see the increases as being too risky

EMaps have quoted £399 to increase from 254bhp to 325bhp and 560Nm to 660Nm

Anyone used Emaps before or have any views/comments

Just so you are aware (not sure if the same as your previous cars), the ECU has to be drilled in order to remap an F10/11...

So if there was a problem, a visual inspection of the ECU would confirm it had been played with.

Exaggerated increases IMO 50BHP more like if that.

I have used EMAPS in the West Midlands and recommended Simon their local rep to many friends who have also had their cars mapped. Great knowledge and service, however my map was on my E70 and was done via the OBD port. I did enquire about my F10 however mine has a BMW performance ECU and Simon was not sure if the map would work on it as he hadn't tried it on one of these before so I gave it a miss

I'd suggest a chip tuning product, provides the same power increase without touching the ECU. I went for a RaceChip tuning box for my 535i, took 5 mins to fit and has a number of ECU maps to choose from. The tuning boxes can also come out a bit cheaper than an ECU remap and can also be reprogrammed for another car if you choose to move on from your current 5 series.

Thanks mate, where did you buy it from.

We're the increases noticeable?

I had my 520d remapped by Superchips. No drilling of the ecu required. Unscrewed and connected to the rig. No damage done.

I went fo the Pro2, yes it's noticable. I'm still on the defult value, I have other maps settings to try when the weather get better.

Racechip have a good following, designed and built in Germany just seatrch the net.

I paid £220 for the unit.

CMS is another alternative, based in Ireland. Great peice of kit plus has the added benefit of bluetooth managment. My friend purchased this kit for £389, best to phone and get a price as it's cheaper than their website.

Yes. But it was only screwed together. 3 wires and then connected directly to the board and connected to a rig and onto a PC.

Bit like this....
