AdBlue?

Just reading up on the Euro6 emissions regs that are in effect and which the new car I'm getting will meet.

Does this mean I need to fill up/top up AdBlue at times?

Depends what car you get.

I have the latest 535d and it does not require any AdBlue ( but it is Euro 6 compliant); however, my friend has the 520d F11, and it requires AdBlue.

And is it required to top up frequently like fuel or infrequently like services?

...and I have a 2012 F10 520d which has what was the £995 option "BMW Diesel with BluePerformance (EU6)" and does not need AdBlue.

Interesting, I have a 2012 530d and this was an option that was just available when I ordered my car. As I had put loads of options on already , I decided not to go for this, (it was so new , the dealer wasn't very clear about what it was) but if the new emissions standard that are being planned for London in 2020 do come into force, that car will at least be allowed in without having to pay the rumoured £12.50 per day (including weekends).
My car (along with many others) will be clobbered should you want to drive into the middle of London ,even at a weekend.
I can see the value of cars that are not EU6 going down near that time.
