535i M Performance Power Kit

Installed today. The dealer fitted the stickers to the sills - I would have preferred them to have asked...

Review will follow in a few days.

The stats are an increase from 306HP to 326HP and 400Nm to 450Nm (400Nm in 6th) and a 0.3 second reduction in 0-62mph, so now 5.4 seconds.

The sport displays have gone from showing 320hp to 400hp and 400Nm to 480Nm.

All BMW warranty remains in place and the extra insurance premium was just £2 for the next month.

It is definitely faster and as hoped, the torque shows most when loading the car in a high gear.

Compared to my old 530d (258hp), it used to seem a bit faster but now it feels one step up and genuinely fast, so all in all I am very pleased.

I'm impressed that your insurance premium hasn't gone up much. Often that ends up being a big part of the cost of these upgrades.

If I was buying again I'd be quite tempted by the 535i, as I don't do many miles. Enjoy !

It is the addition of the go faster stickers...

Very tempting, that additional bit of usable urge.

The stickers wouldn't stay on my car, I don't even have the boot badge let alone the cheap plastic M wing badges on mine.

The upgrade sounds good, well worth having. Diesel works for me I do so many miles, 30,000 per year with nearly 25,000 of those private miles! Although if I did half the mileage I'd more likely be looking at an M5 to get the effortless performance of the 535d but with more top end and a better noise.

I omitted the wing badges when I ordered the car, so I agree with you there. I had expected my dealer to hand me the stickers and my son made me laugh when he said he was glad they put them on, as he knew I wouldn't. I will leave them for a while and see what I think. If they start pulling off, the decision will be easy. Funny you mention an M5, I nearly bought a secondhand one instead of the 535i and the thought pops in and out of my head regularly. The MPPK was an attempt to see if just a bit more power would satisfy me. Time will tell on that!

The one thing that I haven't been able to work out, is the torque in 6th being kept the same. I wonder if this is for emissions figures? The auto box is rated for 450Nm so it shouldn't be that. Having said that, 5th is good for 140mph...
