Question!!!

hello, just test drove a 11 550i xdrive. under the middle gauge there is a led bar for the battery, is that supposed to fluctuate back and forth constantly? while on the highway i notice the led bar drop near its lowest point and the car felt like it was going to stall.

Are you talking about the Eco meter? It shows MPGs, and when you pull your foot off the gas, it moves into the "blue" zone where it shows regeneration power. It'll constantly fluctuate based upon how hard the engine is working (or not). It'll only go into the blue zone when your foot is off the gas and cruising/braking.

It is ecometer and blue zone shows battery recuperation when your right feet is off the pedal.

I know exactly what you might have felt.
FYI thats the instant MPG, and the 2011 550s (n63) are known to have injector issues so you probably felt that issue, usually a sputter or misfire feel.

The car shouldn't feel like it's going to stall. At the very most, you should feel a very, very slight "drag" - as kinetic energy is harvested back to potential and into your battery. Anything but a super smooth ride is unusual for the 5 series - something is wrong with that car. To be sure, go drive 3 or 4 more.
