XDrive and RWD, suspension heights?

I was curious if there's a difference in heights like a standard x-drive, M-sport X-drive or plain RWD?

I've been told that RWD Sport and M-Sport models use slightly lower springs than standards cars and X-Drive cars. If that's true, and it affects ride height, it's impossible to tell visually.

Hmmm...What about an X-Drive M-Sport?

No, because it's assumed that X-Drive vehicles will be in the snow the springs maintain the stock ride height for clearance issues.

Yea, but the reality is the all-wheel drive is simply about traction. Not just snow. In the colder climates it is mostly about getting grip on icy or slippery roads with little loose material (i.e. packed or not very deep snow). The clearance shouldn't be adjusted after all if I want to go off-roading in winter I'd get a truck or sport utility vehicle (or I'd use my ATV). It would be interesting to see what the height differences really are.

Seems to be so small that you have to look really hard to tell the difference. Apparently you can see it ever so slightly if you look at X-Drive cars with sport or msport and identical RWD versions. Personally, I can't tell the difference.

You can't have the M-suspension on an xDrive. You can only have the standard suspension or the optional adaptive drive. With both types of suspension the height is the same, either you have xDrive or RWD.
For me it was too heigh, that's why i lowered my car with ACS springs.

I believe in the US any F10 with the MSport package include the adaptive drive or DHP or whatever it's called now. I don't think the M-suspension is available in the US.

For US cars: BMW USA lists RWD and AWD F10s as having the identical height.

Lowering X-drive

Hi, how much did you lower your 530D xdrive? Thinking about lowering my 535D F11 xdrive.

I would love to see a table based on TIS data listing the various cars (528,535,550), AWD/RWD and options (non-sport, DDC, DHP, MSport passive) and their resulting factory ride height. Add regional flavour (e.g. Canada/Euro vs. USA packages) and that would be great too.

The 2013 M Sport suspension is definitely lower than the XDrive's. It's also lower than the 2011/2012 M Sports with Active suspension.
