Broken crankshaft pulley in the Alps, how screwed I am?

I'm traveling with a caravan though Italian Alps and this morning found out I have some spare parts under the hood...

Yesterday we traveled like 400km though the mountains (with some stops) with no problems, but once stoped at the hotel the car gave me the "the battery is not being charged error". I still had the to move the car to the hotel parking so I drove like this for like 5mins hoping the issue would disappear.
Well it didn't and gave me new low battery warning just as I've parked.

Once opened the hood I found the loose belt that drive generator and water pump(and probably something else).

How bad does this sound?
How fast the BMW notices the generator is no longer working? Could I've been driving like this for an hour or I was lucky it broke at the hotel?
The engine temp on the speedometer was not showing any issues.

This is seriuos, other things could get damaged too, like belt wrapped around pulley rip seal off get inside. But according to you you got lucky as car continued to drive, so nothing else was damaged. just get it done at garage, genuine part might be pricey tough

Garage List
Check for any oil leaks and check your belt pulleys and belt tensioner if possible especially if it was loose or came loose. Very surprised it did not overheat! That you have a diesel very nice! that it is a B47D20 Engine? We don't get that one here in the States!

Story update: 450 Eur and 4000 km (and a lot of pain with insurance) later it is still running great It was just that 1 part that had to be replaced. And it looks like it for real got broken at the single good moment to break (at the destination, up on arrival, not when it would have been time to leave). Thanks for help
