One more oil burning thread from f10
Hi
My LCI f10 is burning oil quickly . I have gone through the class action law suite and other forums too but what hurts is this is a recent behavior after the vechicle is saved from hydrolock, before hydrolock the burning is very less probably 1/4 in the meter for 4k miles but now I can smell the oil burning after coming to stop once I drive hard or a long trip . If u see the pic the oil was in max at 0000 miles but now it’s went to half way for 2500 miles . Is this normal ? My expectations is it will come to min within 4 k miles . |

Valve Covers PCV valve and Turbo lines and Oil Pan and OFHG show no signs of leaks? I have read a lot about the Venerable N63TU and thankfully you have a more robust N63 seriously.

I looked at several posts and looked at several videos, it says consumption is normal? What type of Oil do you use?

After hydrolock fix the local shop used motul oil 0w 20, am planning to change to liquimolly 5w 40once it reached to min .the oil burning is normal but does all the f10 v8 owners change oil at 4k miles? Will the oil goes to min at 4k or 5k miles,? The lawsuits explains if the oil burning is 1qrt per 700 miles is serious issue .

Ow20 I think is a little thin for your beast N63TU and in you area, its hot out there in ATL, I used to live in Jacksonville Florida, it got hot there too! You Should research on OE Oil and possibly a thicker Oil like you mentioned, I use 0w40 due to my decent hot in summer, and decent cold with a little snow in the Winter here in the mid highlands near the Great Basin in Nevada. Make sure it is LL-01 Approved!

Our Engines run hot, a proper LL-01 5w30 or 5w40 or 0w30 or 0w40 and definitely do some research! Your Hot "vee" is drinking up that oil or burning it simply because 0w20 in your hot climate, plus your normal engine temp range, that oil cannot withstand, I certainly believe that is part of excess consumption your issue! (your Oil viscosity)

https://www.selectsynthetics.com/par...ld-i-use-.html I posted this for reference only to educate and for you to be aware my good fellow 5er owner! If your warming those Turbos and are WOT, that will further consume or "burn the oil". I don't blame you if you do with that Awesome engine lol.

I resided in different places in the Jacksonville area, First place was on Southside near Bay meadows, not far from St John's Town Center, and then a couple places near Atlantic and Kernan S Blvds, as well as Orange Park in Clay County, good times!

I do not doubt at all a LL-01 5W-40, especially for the application, a hot V8 with twin Turbos that produce amazing power! I am due for my oil Change soon, already lol, 3 grand trips did it. and I have Brake pads and rear rotors to replace because of it.

After oil change I must say am impressed . Mollygen is my all time fav . Now it makes a diff since it’s first time fir f10. Am not sure all these perks are for new oil or not but have to observe. 1.) engine runs a bit smoother 2.) previously its was sloppy when I need power even in comfort but now it’s always ready. 3.) I can feel the lift off mildly when I raise the power since it’s a RWD , u barely see in normal cars to get that lift off feeling when u rev it. Never felt it in my car before , but now I can feel it in stop and go traffic after oil change . 4.)at high speeds more than 80-90 mph the engine pick up quickly and slows down quickly if u take ur feet off from gas pedal. Before it was sloppy to pick up and come down, mostly I reduce speeds by brake at high speeds. Now I can feel a bit control on engine . 5.) not much diff in engine sound but a very minor effect. Where the engine sound came down a small db. 6.) am using 5w 40 in 0 degree Celsius too and it starts and runs fine . 7.) it drinks exactly 10L oil including oil filter change to get to max level. |

Keep it up!!! So happy for you!!! I knew the Oil would make a difference!! That Oil has a Glow to it so it will help you look for leaks if you use a UV Light!!! (Similar to servicing A/C leaks) Yeah I am already due for another oil Change, got new Liquid Moly on the way from ECS Tuning, My 0w40 is doing great in the cold so far and even when it was getting a little hot (When i was in Sonora it was 103f ambient at times) Very glad you took the recommendation and you got some nice results!! I made a thread with Exhaust notes! feel free to post! I enjoy to hear the N63(TU)!
