I'd be surprised if that's what the finished product looks like. It's too similar to the existing F10, only incorporating some small face-lift elements. It's like an aggressive LCI for the F10 versus a brand new model. The magazines have been reporting, however, that they expect the styling to be more "evolutionary" and not depart radically... just a bit more sporty, including about a 200lb+ reduction in weight... wow! But I still think it'll look considerably different than this rendering.

No way, I hope not! this is turning into Audi design department functioning with a copy machine! it is simply way too early for BMW to event hint at the design for a 2016 model.

looks like a 3 series magnified at 120%

i like the current lci with LED headlights more. i doubt bmw has even finalised on the design (although its probably done around right now i.e. 3yrs from debut) but it looks too lazy of a job. i can't see the 5 having the 4 series style fake side vents. too tacky on a what is essentially an executive sedan with sporting aspirations.

That's so fake. Look at the damn 6 series, it looks like a deformed M4.

The 5 series will certainly look different than this image. There have been some spy shots of the new 5 (full camouflage) circling the track... but there's not even a hint at what the new body will look like under it. Too much junk currently hanging off it and stock parts parts and panels hiding it.

Many articles I've read have suggested that BMW won't dramatically alter the 5 series, though, because it's been a huge success in its current form. But that said, they also can't let it stagnate. The F10 still looks very fresh, but it won't look fresh in 5, 7, or 10 years. So they need to have the next generation model provide updates where they really matter.

I hope it doesn't get any bigger although I suspect it will as all cars seem to be.
I have a very small parking space and if these cars get any better I'll be looking at a 3 series at some point in the future. The current F30 is not far off what the E39 was size wise.
