My new AW 528i!
Hi all!
First of all I wanna thank everyone on this forum because it simply had all the information I needed when I was purchasing my new F10 Now my new Baby! The F10 528i in Alpine white, Oyster/Black Dakota leather, light wood trim, with Bi-xenons, High beam assist, Pro Satellite navigation, HUD, USB, Sunroof, Sport Auto Full electric standard seats w/ lumbar support, standard 18" wheels and more! This is replacing my LCI 2007 E60 523i, which was a great car. But the F10 is definitely a massive step forward. Exterior: Much better looking than the E60, probably because of the bigger wheels, but the wider stance, overall profile, long wheel base and nicely sculptured bonnet it looks more like a 7 and limo like, yet in the rear, the roof line and the tail-lights make it look very coupe-like and sporty! Overall very impressed with the looks. The Blue-white Angel Eyes are hot. Interior: Definitely a notch up from the E60. Everything feels put together very well, in contrast to the E60. For example, when I lightly pressed the plastics in the centre console of the E60, it would make a creaking sound. Same with the electronic shifter (which felt flimsy in the E60, although this could be because I have the sport auto shifter in the F10, whereas the E60 had the regular one) None of that in the F10. Materials have improved too, such as the linings of the side pockets feel much nicer. I especially like how the (sun shade?) of the sunroof slides back and forth automatically. IMO these things add to the luxury feel of the interior as a whole. Overall very impressed with the interior. Engine/transmission Can't really compare the 2.5L I6 in my old 523i to this. All I can say is that its very smooth in power delivery, has a nice BMW soundtrack and very quick for Australian roads. I don't think it's too quiet as some reviewers say about the 535i. In my 528i, I think it makes enough noise, given that the car is more luxury oriented now. The transmission is a bit jerky at low speeds, for example when moving off from a stop, as mentioned by other members of the forum. Takes a bit of getting used to, and its pretty much gone if your right foot is careful enough. Otherwise it's silky smooth and gives a sporty drive when I use the paddles Handling/Ride: As I have the standard suspension, I don't have the luxury of going from comfort --> sport like some of you do BUT, it's still a very good setup. The ride comfort is as good (on 18s w/ RFT) if not better than my E60 on 16s w/ non-RFT. Handling wise, it's still very capable and confident around corners, but I would've liked the steering to be a bit heavier in sport mode. It's still very linear and confident, but there is sadly not as much feedback as an E60. This could be attributed to my F10's standard suspension and RFT though. Again, this reflects the shift of the 5 to a more luxurious orientation, but still retaining the some of the BMW sportiness. Overall I am a Very happy F10 Owner! PHOTO TIME!! : Btw, the last two pics show the active flaps, something I discovered while washing today If anyone wants photos of anything else just reply below |

Outstanding!! I'll bet you're thrilled. When a diesel F10 becomes available here (which is rumored will happen next summer) I'll absolutely take the plunge.Hopefully, however, they won't put the steering wheel on the wrong side as they did with yours.
Just out of curiosity did you consider Nappa leather rather than Dakota (assuming it's available Down Under)? |

F10 528i
Congratulations to you and thanks for posting photos. Is there a way to turn off the ambiance lighting in the door panels? Do they "brighten" via the dash lighting rheostat?
We're taking ED delivery of my wife's Jet Black F10 late next month. It'll replace her '08 E60 528i. We test drove and considered a 535i but for her driving style found the 528i to be more than adequate. This will be her sixth 5er. She claims her favorite was the 1987 E28 535i. |

Nappa is available here, but we'll have to factory order and wait 4 months. If I do factory order in the future I'll definitely be ticking that option box, along with the goodies like VDC/Adaptive drive, radar cruise control and the like! Quote:
Congratulations on your new 528i! I bet the wait is going to be overwhelming (if it isn't already) as you get closer to the delivery date! Remember to take photos when you pick her up. I agree the E28 is a fantastic car, just like all other 5ers

Any general comments on the ride and handling of 528i with no sports package? tight? like a boat? Body roll? please describe any comments. Would it be fair to ask how it compares to driving a 335?

In terms of handling, it is very capable and tight for it's size. Body roll is well controlled considering the ride and the standard setup. I would go for the adaptive drive and VDC in a heartbeat for more sporty driving. Definitely not like a boat, thats a Merc! In my opinion it handles great for what it is (a large sedan). I haven't driven a 335 before, but Id imagine the smaller size to be much more fun in the curves! If that's what you're coming from, I think the sport suspension is a must. Engine wise the 3.0L in the 528i has good power, but definitely no match for a 335i for sure!
