I just got a 2011 550xi and swapped out the runflats for Nokian summer tires. I was hoping for something with little more comfort, less road noise. However these tires I just got dont seem to do the trick. My winter tires were very quite than these. Any recommendation as I have 30 days to keep these or exchange. Also how would i know I have the sports version of the 550xi?

I was looking at Michellins or conti.

Can't comment on summer Nokians, but I have Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position and they are dead quiet. Quietest and most comfortable tire I ever owned (with incredible grip, but somewhat fast thread wear). In the past I had two sets of RF tires on this car, horrible in every way possible OEM Goodyear and in my opinion excellent Dunlop performance winter tires and Bridgestones are a lot quieter than either one of those (or my current winter Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 tires).

Michelins are expensive for a reason, they are good. Contis would be a good choice as well.

Hi Graffix, Just wanted to know your first impressions on Firehawk Indy 500 and some pics (if you can), did you manage to get the tires installed on your car?

I ditched the Goodyear RFs for Michelin PS A/S 3+ and although they're not summer tires they're super quiet and smooth.

when i went with my custom wheels what a difference i felt going from RF's to normal tires. tho i didn't go with a top brand tire like Michelin and GoodYear i decided to try the Accelera Phi's and very impressed with the handling and comfort these tires are

Compared to my previous Eagle RFs and Sottozero winter tires, obviously night and day. They are much quieter, responsive, hold the road well, and the traction in wet is impressive (found that out by accident). And for $166 bucks, I'm very pleased.

I'll get some pics up.

Thanks a lot. Can't wait to see the pictures? I am thinking of getting it on my m-sport wheels, replacing factory RFT after 45K miles.

Agree with you on the Potenza S-04's. I got them a month after getting my car and being annoyed with the noise and harshness of the stock RFT Michelin Primacy's. Potenza's were dead quiet, smooth riding, and grippy, though somewhat slow in turn-in. And like you they wore out fast in 14k miles.

Moved on to Michelin Pilot SuperSports. Slightly louder than the Potenzas (but much better than RFTs), still comfy, quicker turning, incredible grip, and a little bit better wear (18k miles, and Michelin even refunded 30% of the price because they're warrantied for 30k miles).

Good to hear, but I'd be shocked if anyone gets to 30K miles on them. No first hand experience, as they were always significantly more expensive or out of stock when I was due to replace tires. I'm just going by tire wear rating specifications from Tirerack, they seem to be pretty close to Potenza, both around or under 300 if I remember correctly.

Thanks, had my winters on these rims. Liked them so much that I swapped them with summers and will use the 351 for winter.

New to the forum, new to BMW, and new to my car; 2014 BMW 528i

From what I am gathering here the run flats can be noisy? I have 4 Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires. all are good condition, but I feel like they are noisy. My other car is a leased Malibu and that car is actually quieter going down the road. Anyone have any experience with these tires? General opinion on road noise on these F10's?

The LS2's are CRAP! In many ways.

I'd suggest conti DWS... when I was up north they help up very well all year long and had no need to keep switching

its an excellent tire with very reasonable price

I have done the DWS on several BMWs and generally like them quite a bit... But there are a few areas that the LS2 runflats are better. First, the LS2s tracked better for me. The DWS wanders about on the freeway and you feel crosswinds more. The LS2 concrete sidewalls no doubt aid in superior freeway stability/tracking. I also thought the LS2s had really good grip in the rain and did not hydroplane at all. The DWS is also really good in this regard, but I felt the LS2 did a little better. The LS2s are prone to bubbles in the sidwalls and ride like a cement mixer, but I did not notice that they were all that loud - perhaps because they wore evenly. You did feel every crack and pebble and impact noise was pretty obnoxious on a bad road. The DWS was also noticeably better in light snow. JMHO....
