I had exactly the same question in mind... Everytime i 'force' the encoder to encode with those dimensions - playback on the HU is still bordered by the black bars (if not worse).
Would love to have the zoom function available (ala DVD playback), but I can seem to find the sweet-spot for encoding. |

You also need to crop the video to 24:9 aspect ratio. The pixel aspect ratio should be 1:1
1280x480 or 1920x720 should then work. Avidemux should be able to do the job. |

I have Windows 10, and I'm no Video guru.
Here is what I did (after piecing together info from various forums) and it seems to work... Download and Install Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate It costs $38 but you can find it cheaper online 1. Select your Profile as > Playstation > H.264/MPEG4-AVC 2. In the upper right corner, select the arrow popout to bring up advanced settings 3. In the advanced settings: Under Video Stream > Change the following: Video Size > Type in 1920x720 (not available in dropdown) Zoom > Change 'Letter Box' to 'Full' in the dropdown Aspect Ratio > Type in 24:9 (not available in dropdown) 4. Under Profile settings you can change the Video and Audio Quality to your liking. 5. Select your destination folder then press Start The issue you are having I believe is that letterbox format creates the border and you need to change that zoom setting to Full. The above is what I used and it fits the full BMW screen without borders on my 2013 M5. Good luck. |
