Imposss I am curious to know what sort of problems you had, was that in relation to the juice box ECU or is it an unrelated/known issue to the f10? Please shed some light on this as I am seriously looking at getting an ECU for my 35 and there's not a whole lot of options available to us yet. Thanks.

So, is BMW going to be offering performance chip upgrades now? Or do we have to wait for Dinan? Any word about when a chip will be available? I love my car. But I'd also love maybe 50 more h.p.

So far so good with the JB3. Install took maybe 20 minutes, and, um, wow. Car will easily break the rear tires loose and is nothing short of ferocious at any rpm. Lag is G O N E gone gone and power is instantaneous. Solid product with exceptional results, especially for the $$$. Tomorrow I will be raising the boost by 2-3 PSI which should net a few more horsepower. I'll report back.

FYI, looking at the install guides seems quite daunting but literally, with almost no tools at all the unit was in and running in 20 minutes start to finish.

Interesting - you're the first two people I've heard who have installed one on an F10. Very much looking forward to hearing more of your experiences as you drive them. Picking up my F10 in 7 hours and the JB is already tempting.

imposss, did you put yours back on after service?

My only complaint thus far is that with the 8 speed transmission there are lots and lots and lots of gear changes.

I use a Kiwi PLX wireless OBD II connector and a program called Rev on my iPhone to run a few logs and check for codes but so far, about 500 miles of totally brutal, and mean brutal in town only driving, no codes, no CEL, nothing but smiles.

The BMS tune still scares me....

Dinan is working on a tune according the email they sent me. They hope to have it some time this summer.

Waste of money IMHO. Had Dinan in my E46's, both M3 and 330. Crap dyno numbers, too expensive. Good comfy warranty feeling shouldn't cost 6x the price of a comparable tune.

To each their own I suppose.

DieselWeasel - Are you saying since you put the JB3 tune in your car the shifting has gotten worse in terms of shifting way to many times or are you just saying the 8 speed trans shifts to much in general. (I don’t have a tune on my car yet and there is a lot of shifting going on between 0mph – 40mph) I just want to make sure the JB3 doesn’t make it worse)

With the JB3 tune, does the car feel way faster? I'm not so concerned with the HP numbers as much as I am concerned with how it feels in the seat, bottom line does it throw head back in the seat?

I don't care about the dyno numbers either. This is not one of those "I can feel it, wait can I, yes, well maybe it's just in my head, oh maybe I can't" feel it sort of tunes. Night and day is more like it. The level of ferocity with which the tach now climbs just means I feel like I have to shift a lot, which isn't a bad thing it just isn't something I'm used to never having owned an 8 speed before.

Executive summary: get one. If you dont like it, sell it for a $20 loss. Seriously, 15 minutes start to finish. You don't even have to remove the cowling like the instructions for the 3 series show, just 4 plug interceptions and go like hell.

JB3 boost raise?

I have the JB3 for a 2011 535 and I am happy with it. I can tell a noticeable difference and to date have had no CEL's. However, how do you plan on raising the boost 2-3 psi. I cannot see anywhere to do that nor do I it in the literature.
Is there some kind of a adjustment within the little black control unit

This thing isn't available in EU but can you tell me how many HP/torque you get with that thing installed

Go here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8035

You have to install the JB software on a laptop and physically connect to the black box and tweak the PSI over stock field to 3 or 4 or 5. Haven't done so yet but plan on it this weekend. Will let you know how it goes. Plus 4 PSI should be ok AFAIK but over that you might see some codes. Will report back ASAP

Just put the JB tune in today on my 2011 535i xdrive and the difference is dramatic and obvious. Not sure if the Dinan would be better but for the money, you're probably better off waiting for the stage 2 JB tune. Well worth the 450, and I can't wait for an intake to be made.

Faster than before tuning I imagine?? Don't really care about this honestly. I wanted a little extra kick, I got a lot of extra kick. My case is closed. I can say that my business partner has a 2011 N55 motor 335i coupe, stock, automatic, which we raced from a dead stop to around 70 and again from about 30-90 or so, and I took him by a bit both times. Didn't beat him by a landslide but I got him by quite a bit...

I dont think there was much of a change 0-60 not with 20-25hp to the wheels. But the torque is ridiculously fun! Also the stock diverter valve makes more noise and the engine loves to be revved.

Get it and have fun

Do you mean him having a chance to beat the coupe or the coupe beating him because of the extra 20 hp?

I think if there was no JB tune on the 535i, the 335i would have won with the same two drivers and the same two cars. There is definitely a noticeable difference with the tune and no tune. We are talking about tenths of a second especially when you consider the race from 0-70 and 30-90.

As a reference this car is pretty quick with the JB Stage1 and can hang with an e46 M3 smg. In the end it comes down to the driver.
