First post for me. I'm looking forward to ordering an F10 this coming July. I'd love to order a 2012 but can't place the order until I return home from Europe at the beginning of July.

Can anyone out there tell me around what date I would be able to order a 2012 F10 for early October Canadian delivery? Am I dreaming here - is July too early - or does anyone really know for sure if this would be possible? Otherwise, it will have to be a 2011 and I'm not even sure that I would be able to order an F10 that late in the model year. I am after an M-Sport 535xi in a specific color with options that I want. Because of that choice, it's probably going to be really difficult to find a built 2011 at a dealer in July.

Any ideas?

I'm from Ottawa too and I can tell you that normal delivery timeframe is between 3 weeks and month from build completion. Therefore, if you want early October delivery od 2012 you will need to have one that is built during the first week of 2012 production - the first week of September (this is the normal MY changeover). There is probably going to be a bit of a rush for early MY 2012 builds (lots of people consider waiting when it is close to MY change over). Therefore, July is not too early BUT I would negotiate with the dealer (here it is either Otto's or Elite) on getting one of their first MY 2012 production slots. They should be able to gurantee the slot (assuming they can get one) but they may not be able to gurantee the price as they may not have it yet (they probably will have though).

So, bottom line is I would start talking now with dealer to get feel for the availability of a build slot for that week and firm up the deal in July when they would probably have new the pricing.

Bill - I'd like to PM you regarding Otto's as I know you dealt with them. I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience with them. I'll have to post a few more times then I'll drop you a line. You have exactly the model I'm looking for although the tech pkg is not a big deal for me.

As others have reported, Model year 2012 cars will technically start in September, after the summer shutdown (vacation) at Dingolfing. You should be able to order your car any time, and request the week slot you want to be in production, I did this with my dealer to ensure I got the Combox. There could be a slight increase in orders that time, but doubt it will be much since there probably won't be any big changes. The one thing that is likely to make it to the 2012 car is Stop/Start. You may want to look into this and decide if it is something you would rather not have. Personally, I would not....although I guess it is not a big deal to turn it off every time you start the car. Other changes may be how some packages are put together, or the ability to possibly order more seperate features.

Otto's needs to start paying you commission of some sort I got my car there as well after speaking with Bill. I don't have it yet but it is in Halifax waiting to get on a train from what I am told.

Yes, it is getting closer, now awaiting on a rail car for the trip to Montreal.

For Schultz, I was at Otto's yesterday and they actually had a model on the floor almost exactly the same as Bill's, same colour as well. It would of course be a 2011 model though.

The 2012 F10's are coming out later than normal this year. This year the earliest that one can pick up a BMW doing European Delivery is October 15, 2011.
