Two weeks in the shop
Well my 2013 535 M Sport with 42000 miles has been in the shop this Friday for two weeks. I took it in because the A/C wasn’t kicking out cold air. Two days later they found a leak around two of the seals. They also said I had a loud ticking/rattling sound from the engine on startup and they are replacing the HPFP. I had them check out this weird sound that was coming from the transmission when backing up (a whistling/whining). They called me yesterday and stated they were stun and they recorded the sound and sent it to the high tech guy at BMW???. Curious if anyone had the same noise and any idea where it is coming from.

Sorry to hear about the issues, I don't believe I've heard anything outside of the ordinary on my '13 with 39k miles. Are you still under warranty? Mine expires in July so if something should be looked at I'm hoping to take it in before then. Let us know what they come back with and good luck getting her fixed up!

From what I've read on here there have been multiple people with the whining in reverse and they have all had their transmissions replaced by BMW.
You're going to be out of the car for longer, but if you're still under warranty I would be happy you're getting a new transmission.

Thanks for the reply. My car is a CPO. I am thinking from reading some of the other post it may be the transmission/alternator or oil pump. I had a 2013 535i luxury model that I was leasing before this. When I went to turn it in I saw this Alpine white 535i M sport and I had to have it. It was a CPO with 37,000 miles. If I kept the other one it wouldn’t have been a CPO. It didn't make that whistling/whining sound. The SA said she was going to call back but heard nothing yet. I have a 2016 328i loner. I have to say my E90 rides and handles better.

After two weeks I got a call from my S/A and she stated that the sound that the car is making when backing up (a whistling/whining) is normal. She stated that a TECH Rep will be visiting the dealer at a later time (date unknown) and she is going to contact me to return the car so the TECH Rep can listen to it. So I will pick up my car tomorrow.
