Help on Used 10\" CID Retrofit

I recently bought a 10\" CID From ebay. I currently have a 7\" one and i would like to retrofit the larger one. Normally, it takes 3-5 minutes to change displays, but one of my friends told me that my car needs to be reprogrammed, and worse if the display is used, there is a chance to burn control unit of the car. I dont know what to do. If anyone has experience on this, help will be appreciated.

Is it possible to only change the lcd-screen without change to the cic-unit?

Yeah I'd love to confirm this as well. However, Patrys informed me that it is not possible to simple replace the 7" with the 10" without changing the whole unit and reprogramming. I suppose he would know what he's talking about but I keep hoping there is a way around it. Its just so frustrating to spend around Euro 102k+ on this car and not getting a 10" screen as standard. 7" is so yesterday!

Isn't the dash different on cars with the different displays? Wouldn't you have to swap the whole dashboard as well?

From photos it appears that the space where the screen fits is the same, its just the plastic "sides walls" that are either narrow or wide depending on the screen size.

In fairness, BMW didn't get 102k euros for that car. I am sure a good chunk of that price went in taxes to your government. BMW only got paid for a less expensive car with a 7" screen.

I always laugh at these threads where people want to retrofit options. If you want it, you should order the car with it.

True, because people wanting things they can't have is always hilarious.

But coming back to what I posted, I understand BMW did not get all of my money yet that IS the money I spent to purchase this car so if I wish the 10" screen came as standard across ALL models.....its just that, a wish. I honestly don't expect BMW to call me tomorrow morning and offer me the 10" because I posted my "wishes" here. Secondly, I did not get the 10" because it only comes with the Nav Professional option and the navigation system does not cover my city/country. If it did, yes I would have paid for that too.

You have to buy new CIC because without CIC picture will be deformed. I just retrofit navi profesional on my f10 9/2011 and also bought cic and cid on ebay.
