Dr. Euro 535i N55 Dps
Hi all,
Correct me if i am wrong but the only way to pass inspection in NY with catless dps is to re-install the cats? No dp fix? No way around? Thanks |

I plan on going this route in the future (straight pipe) and the only thing that would really work is a downpipe fix that BMS once sold. Let me do a bit more research and amend this post with additional info..

I'm going with the spacer setup. Double spaceer on the O2 sensors might do the trick. Ill revert back on Saturday afternoon.

Seems like we aren't going to get any advice on this since Burger MS seems to be completely hands off on all advice regarding emissions. I can't even get them to explain the code clearing function on the JB4 and whether or not it causes us to fail the readiness evaluation at the emissions testing...
They keep telling me to remove any "race components" for street driving, lol come on! Who's racing a 535i!? They know they are selling these items to drivers that use their cars on the street hence their sale of the DP fix in the recent past, but when we ask a question they are all hands off. Just want a simple answer and they refuse to provide it, does the JB4 code clearing function effect the readiness of the DME!!! YES OR NO? Pretty annoying. I'm not interested in their advice to remove all "RACE MODS", i just want an answer on the functionality of the device. Here is what the NYDMV has on readiness; Q: My vehicle failed the NYVIP OBD II inspection for the readiness evaluation. What does this mean, and how can I get my vehicle to pass? A: A readiness failure means that the NYVIP inspection equipment communicated with the vehicle, and the vehicle reported that it had not completed a sufficient number of its supported on-board diagnostics. The vehicle will need to be driven for a sufficient number of diagnostics to run to completion. The following guidance applies specifically to the OBD II readiness evaluation: |

I wouldn't bet on the spacer trick working. On my e46 330i I still get a SES after installing headers with about a 4" J-tube welded on the downstream O2 sensor to back it out of the exhaust flow. At least on the e46, the only solution seems to be running O2 sims.

Wow that sucks. Makes me a little apprehensive about getting a product from a company that offers little to no support on these types of issues. Then again, they are probably trying to limit thier liability by not offering something that would deceive the emissions standard as that can carry legal repercussions. I will contact my boy who runs a shop specializing in these things and pm you some advice/info tomorrow.

not gonna lie, they beat around the bush alot, and give short pointless answer that dont help fix the issue whatsoever. and it annoyed me but i couldnt really say anything but keep persuing answers to my problems.... nto for nothing the way their technical support is set up... which is email only , no phone calls, and when u email them about some issues they tell you to go post up on the forum and wait for terry otr russell for 3-5 days to respond to it meanwhile your car is standing there not moving like a brick..... not for nothing after spending almost 1500$ with BMS, i can honestly say i wont do that again just over principle.......
OH and yea i had to figure out the issue myself by doing 3 weeks of research to get it right.... |

if you get a JB4 stage 2..... there is a small tip to get the ecu to ignore the codes and they will never show up....
