Hello,
Was curious what impressions are out there for Carbon Black owners. It is only available for M-sport owners so its pretty exclusive. Havent seen any on the street

I've seen Carbon Black on M3's. It's a pretty cool color. To me it looks like black paint with a dark blue metallic flake in it. Compared to Ruby Black which looks like black paint with deep red flake in it. Haven't seen Ruby Black in person, only in pictures.

My dealer had an M Sport in Carbon Black with 20" wheels, it looked fantastic.
I almost changed my order, but the thoughts of keeping it clean on our roads won the day and I stayed with Space Grey. |

My 2011 F10 550i M sport is carbon black. IMHO it is the best color - receive compliments all the time. It has a slightly different look depending on the time of day, shadows etc.
Seriously consider carbon black for your F10 |

I just love it. I wanted to order my F10 M sport in saphire black but now I'm very glad I chose carbon.
Indeed, the look changes continuously. You gotta keep the car clean though. So if you hate cleaning, do yourself a favor and order space gray.

I had carbon black on my E60 LCI - really didn't like it. When it looked black I was happy, but in bright sunlight it looks pretty blue because of the flakes in it which pop very well - and I hate blue cars. It was just the most black car I could get at the time with the spec I wanted and in the showroom it looked very black.
I think it also shows up swirls and surface scratches more in bright sunlight because of the bright flakes on a black background and my professional detailer friend says it's just about the hardest paint to correct when it gets full of swirls and random scratches because it is extremely hard paint and shows up every mark. It took him nearly 2 days to machine it and it wasn't in a very bad state to start with. The hardness of the paint also makes it get chipped more easily esp. in cold weather - after 20k miles from new the front M Sport aero kit and the bonnet were peppered badly. As ever - just my opinion. Do what your heart tells you!

Yea, well the choices are limited if someone wants an msport. I cant deal with any shade of grey or white. I like black but don't want to get jet black. I went and looked at Jerez Black on an M3 today and thought it was incredible looking. I was told the Carbon and Jerez are about identical. The runner up is Dark Graphite, no matter how much I want to like that color it just doesn't do it for me. I think it is the best choice, 2nd to Carbon Black especially when you couple it with the fact that its a rather exclusive color. If you get a good (in my case professional) protective finish on the paint, swirls shouldn't be a real problem too.

I thought long and hard between CB and SG and was steering towards SG. Had SG car before and loved the colour. Then saw a clean CB M Sport in the daylight, not just under the show room lights and my mind wad made up. But will need to keep it clean, to keep it looking class. My CB M Sport arrives in 32 days and counting......

You can also do the trick yourself every now and then. Check this excellent product (and site): http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...t-trigger.html To apply one coat of sealant, it takes about one hour. It's a very easy spray on/wipe off routine. Check the result:

Edwin, excellent photo, the CB is exclusive!
There is a local guy who happens to be 1 of a few authorized reps for Swissvax here in Germany, I think I am going to have him do a complete setup from claying to polish. http://www.swissvax.com/

Carbon Black F11 MS here... Well it was when I drove it out the showroom! 2000 miles later and it could really do with a bath, but it'll only get dirty again, so why bother. Here's looking forward to a clean car in 3 years time when I trade it in

My E60 550 was carbon black, I loved it! Great Color, I had a white 335i cab for a few months and now my F10 550 is on order on CB again.
Yes it looks better clean, but so does every color, even white. My wife's car is jet black, but I like CB more. |

Carbon black looks like a dark purple/navy to me. I personally would rather go jet black if I had the means to take proper care of it. Black Sapphire metallic is the way to go :-D

Actually you can, but BMW will charge you extra for that (all of a sudden it's called "special paint" ). I have seen a sapphire black F10 with M sport.
Yup, here it is. Looks pretty cool IMO: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/vorst...-t3042702.html

hmm, maybe its US spec cars that cant, but I am certain Black sapphire kicks out Msport package. Even though I live overseas I buy US spec cars.
