Hello Everyone,
Just took the delivery of new 530D ððð however when I started going through the use manual etc. I realised that there is no service log book; instead the service history will be maintained and stored on the car itself (page 94 and 242 from user manual). Interesting move from BMW, isn't it? ð³ |

Audi and Mercedes (I am sure there must be others) are doing the same
If you think about it, we have seen the Tax Disk disappear this year and next year the paper counterpart of your driving license is no longer needed. The owners manual is also now viewable via iDrive and so on. Our reliance on paper is at last disappearing so the service book (which is easily forged anyway) seems an obvious thing to make electronic and of course putting it on the car itself makes it easier for a future buyer to check without having to go online or call the dealer. It's just a shame it has taken us so long to get here |

Can you view it in-car, or does the Dealer have to have your key to download on his Screen ?

just request a hard copy from your dealer, and get them to put all services up to now on it, I have one as I always go for a mid service in between the 2 suggested by the system services, not free of course as it is way earlier then the suggested one by the car CPU, the hard copy let me work out when to do it. the dealer perform the service without adding it to the car computer, as it will screw up the 5 year free service inclusive! but it is recorded in my hard copy.
