LCI Headlights Retrofit
Hello everyone,
I want to retrofit OEM LCI headlights. Are they hard to install? Anyone from Florida that can do it? Thanks

The actual installation of the headlights themselves is not very hard, but there's a lot of wiring involved and then intense coding which I think in the US not many have accomplished successfully outside of flying in someone from Europe.
This may sound silly but its easier to trade in your car for one that has LED than it is to do this swap. |

i've only seen this successfully done once in a 13 M5.
you will need a few modules and then coding specially for it, Archie in the forums has not been able to do it from what I know, if you ask him he never responds about it. I was thinking of sending the headlights out to a shop and have them replicate the LED headlight look. Would be cheaper and less of a pain in the ass.

Just LCI headlights, or LED LCI headlights? Quite a bit different animal.
LCI headlights would require not much work I'd think. The LED control functions were moved from the FRM to inboard headlight driver modules in each lamp. At a minimum you would need both headlights, complete, along with an LCI FRM. The wiring from the headlight to the FRM is going to need some work as well. You'll need ISTA-D to pull the wiring diagrams from, and all of the modules involved will need to be encoded to the car they are installed in which ISTA-P probably won't like as the year model is wrong. It will need to be overridden. |

I myself think the LCI lamp assemblies look much better than the pre-LCI which looked pretty cheesy with the hexagonal LED array turn signal... and would gladly retrofit a pre-LCI car if it wasn't too hard to do. |

Yes, I mean full LCI LED headlights. I'm happy with the round blue angel eyes, but the LCI LEDs are on another level. It sounds like too much work to do though. I'm wondering how many people did this retrofit without facing any issues?

As stated above, this has not been done in the US without outside help. In fact the only place I know of it done was in Singapore |

I habitually signal, unless I'm pushing through traffic so fast it could be considered lane splitting... at which point I don't worry about it.
I was poking fun at the stereotype of BMW drivers not knowing their cars have turn signals. |
