Exclamation TPMS Question

I have a faulty sensor somewhere but it doesn't tell me which corner has the problem. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't reset it either or tell me which corner is having the issue. Is there a way to determine which corner isn't functioning properly?

How do you know that one of them is faulty? Are all 4 tires showing Green on the TPMS Status screen, or is one Yellow or Red, or are they all Grayed out?

If all 4 are green, it would seem to me that all 4 sensors are working and that instead their is something wrong with the control module.

As a check, if you know how or know someone who can code your car, you could try coding HU_CIC / RDC_SAFETY to aktiv, which will display each sensors Pressure and Temperature readings alongside the color indicators, which may show one sensor not reading, or reading grossly different than the other three.

My wife's 328i had a problem with the rear-left TPMS, and the system just showed a general error (TPMS malfunction or something like that, it did not indicate which wheel, etc.)
I took it to an independent BMW specific shop (out of warranty) and they were going to look at the controller etc. and god knows what.

I called my local America's Tire shop and they have a tool that they hold next to the tire and can detect the signal from the TPMS sensor. Within 15 seconds they found the faulty sensor and they had it in stock for something like $80.

The very well equipped BMW shop did not have this simple tool.

Call your local tire shops first.

That's pretty pathetic that an Indy can do that and the BMW Dealership cant.

^^ just to clarify, I didn't take the car to the dealer since it was out of warranty (may be I didn't say it right); this was a very well equipped indy shop (BMW only) that didn't have the equipment. I asked them to not do any work on it and took the car to a tire shop instead.

So the dealer said my tpms is working fine but its picking up more than 4 tpms signals and that's what's throwing the system off but I have no clue what the extra signal its picking up is. Its still in service so we'll see what's next.

Mine says the same thing. Tpms malfunction, doesn't say which sensor. I've seen better Tpms in a ford truck. Ridiculous for $65k car

Some of those Ford trucks are $65k if that makes you feel any better.

I know this is old post but I have to try.,
Have “TPMS Malfunction” error popping up., it will not stay on all the time.,
Just comes on and in few seconds or minutes it will go away.,
Tray to reset, will not reset same error popup during reset
Tray to deflate each tire individually to see if the TPM module reads the TPM sensor that is in the tire., All good. It shows that tire pressure is low.,

Need to know if any of you has same problem and what’s the solution for it? Or the Cost at dealer.,
Where is the TPM module located?
Thank you..

Went on a 3000 mile trip in March and would get a TPMS error when cruise was at 85mph after being at that speed for 30 minutes or so. After getting down to city speeds it would go out. Turned out to be a tiny crack in my RF wheel.

Based in your car DOB, is about the time that the battery went dead.
The solution is to replace the TPMS. Dealer will cost a lot. Checkout my site for the OEM replacement.
