Show me where you mounted your dashcam
For those of you that have installed dashcams, post a pic of your installation. I have a Blackvue 650 and had the front camera installed just below the rearview mirror and rain sensor, but feel that location is a bit to "obvious". I have heard stories of people getting their window smashed for radar detectors and don't want to be a victim of this for my dashcam. I was considering mounting it to the left of the rearview mirror, just left of the dot matrix pattern at the top of the windshield. Since the mounting point on the Blackvue is to the right of the actual camera lens, I could mount it within the dot matrix area and still have a clear viewing/recording angle that clears the dot matrix area. What are your thoughts/experiences? Any place better to mount?

This is pretty much the area I am considering now. I am going to try and get mine as high as possible. I will take pics tomorrow once I relocate mine.

This is the unit that I have. Pricey, but it is two channel, so front and rear camera, and I am able to connect it to my phone and watch live feeds and instantly access all video footage via a Wi-Fi connection between the camera and my phone. It is pretty slick.

I went with the cheap route.
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Box-Capa...ilpage_o05_s00 This camera works well. Can't watch it via wi-fi but I do have an adapter that lets me plug the microSD into my phone or just pop into my laptop for viewing. I am definitely consider adding another one to the rear. I've purchased and installed 5 of these on various car. Worked well so far. |
