Replace 550 with '13 M5 or '14 M5?

So, I presently have a 2011 550 - pretty much fully loaded, lowered on ACS springs; 20' wheels - I did put a deposit on an M5 - now, I'm having second thoughts on picking up a 2013, knowing the LCI will be out as a 2014 - the F10 has been out since 2010, so, 2014 would be a mid life makeover - definitely upgraded lights etc.
It will definitely irritate me if I go with a 2013, it would be 'dated' by the LCI within a year.
So, if I stay with the 550 for another year, I'll do the Dinan flash, so I get some punch out of the car for the next year.
And, I did have the internal argument about getting the M5 shortly and just enjoying it, but the logical side says the 550 is still pretty fresh, so it's not like I'm slumming for the next year. And, for the record, this logic part seems to only cut in with age....
What would you do? I think I pretty much made up my mind, but just curious to see what would fellow F10 members would do given this option....

or .... you can get the 2013 M6 GC with LED headlight.

I am thinking the same thing as you are. Mine is also 11 550xdrive. If I don't do anything, I am also thinking 2014 would be the year to get the LCI version (MY2015) if BMW does indeed go with that kind of time table for LCI.

I would wait for the LCI in your situation or go M6. The m5 is awesome but the new M6 is another world hot.

Keep the 550i, wait for the new m5.
Or just dinan tune + finan exhaust on the 550 and call it a day!

This sounds like a cool option too - that M6 GC looks sweet - I'll research it some more...

I just sold my 18 months old 550ix and bought a 2012 M5

I´d recommend You to do the same....
The M5 is soooooo much better/fun than the 550.

You only live once

If you keep waiting for the right moment then something will keep coming up around the corner in terms of new product launches in the market and you will keep postponing the decision because of whatever is coming up next. This is a classic buyer's dilemma and the way to solve it is to JUST BUY IT NOW!

If you really can't wait anymore, go get it now! I'm happy with my 1 month old 550 so far. I'll wait for 2 years (longest I can live with the same car) and then maybe get the M5 or M6...I agree with cidair, you only live once!

In the US, the 2011 was the first MY. 2014 seems early for an LCI.....

And don't usually M LCI's lag one MY behind?

North America - the F10 came out Spring 2010 as a MY2011.

If the LCI time table is projected for 4 years change, then sometimes in Spring 2014, we may know the LCI is ready for the market as a MY2015.

To paraphrase some movie: dude you're debating between and m5 and a 550, not getting off a Higgins boat on omaha beach. Not exactly slum conditions.

Who cares? The new m5 looks like a 5 series anyways. Get a panamera turbo. Way more presence if you care about that. Or get an m6 gran coupe.

I think the LCI will be revealed in 2013 for MY 2014. That would be the 4th MY and fits the previous cycles. The E60 came out in late 2003 as a 2004 model. Pre-LCI was 2004-2006 and the LCI was 2007-2010. Similarly, the E90 3er came out in 2005 as a 2006 model. 2006-2008 were pre-LCI and the LCI started with the 2009 model year.

And no, the Ms do not lag a year behind. They get the LCI at the same time as the standard cars. That means that in the U.S., it will exist for only one model year before getting the LCI. This was the case with the E60 M5 and the E9x M3.

If someone has reliable information that says differently, please post!

M6 GC will definitely be at least a 2014 model, may not be available until late into year 2013......

I am just going to get the 650i GC instead

2013 would be the third model year for the F10 in the US.

Exactly. And 2014 would be the 4th. That's what I'm saying...that the LCI will be revealed in 2013 and will begin with the 2014 model year.
