Has anyone compared the silver VMR V710 with the APEX PS-7
both wheels look identical. I'm looking at both in 19x9.5 it looks like
the apex weighs in at 23 lbs and the VMR is 26.5 these would be rears for
wifes 535i xdrive and the VMR appear to about $100 cheaper per wheel. Appreciate any comments and suggestions.

VMR710's are typical cast alloy Taiwan crap. Look nice, don't hold up to RFT abuse.

Apex are a bit better, spun "forged" barrels (use that term loosely) some added strength and lightness as a result.

If you're concerned with performance and longevity the Apex would be a better buy every day of the week. If you want something to roll for a year or two then throw away.... go with the VMR.

not quite sure how accurate that is. VMR has been around for a few years now and their reputation is pretty good. cast wheels in general need to be heavier to get the same strength as forged.
I have been around the forums for several years and haven't seen any "cracked" threads for either of the wheels mentioned. having known many people who had VMR wheels, I have never heard of any issues

Got the VMR710s a little over a year ago. With the research I did seemed they weren't as "strong" as some of the more expensive options. I tend to replace rims about every two to three years if I keep a car to freshen it up so this didn't bother me. Also have the road hazard warranty that will cover aftermarket rims and tires not to exceed the cost of factory replacements. The debate on the RHW is a whole other thread, it was 900 so not a huge expense. I liked the option of being able to pick the rim color as opposed to going with a standard make, got gloss anthracite instead of gun metal or black. Costs a little extra but it was worth it. If you are going to go with VMR I would suggest calling them direct and see if they have any specials due to over production, which they can then poweder coat to your specifications. This worked out for me and I ended up only paying about 50 extra per rim instead of 100 for a custom color. Customer service was great and they worked with my local rim dealer to do the deal. But yes, as always, look out for pot holes and F-ed up roads. Let us know what you end up with, along with pics of course.

I was in the same boat last year. I've had both forged and cast wheels myself and trust me, you can crack/dent forged wheels just as easily as you can with cast wheels. The weight savings is the key here but since it'll go on the wife's car, she probably won't notice. I ended up buying a set of cast Concept One CS55 for the wife's F10. A week later, she scraped the entire rear at the Del Taco drive-thru. Not a big deal but if I had paid for Vorsteiner's, I probably would've slashed my wrist.

LOL, exactly!!!! I went with forged for my wheels because I did want the weight savings. But if I was looking for winter wheels, or if I regularly change wheels, then cast would be fine. Strength between forged vs cast is negligible (depending on brand, there are REALLY strong and light forged wheels, but they will cost $3k + per wheel). Hit a pothole hard enough and you can crack any wheel.

In general, VMR has a really good reputation on the forums, and they are very reasonably priced.
