How is this radar compared to V1 and the other radars in the market? I have never owned one and wanted to learn a little more about it.

It's probably a lot more... The V1 is; and has been for a while; $399.. I've had numerous detectors; the latest prior to my V1 was a BEL STi Driver. IMHO, the V1 is superior. The counter and arrows are extremely helpful and have saved me from more than one ticket. BTW, I thought Mike Valentine patented the arrows....

I have a 360. It's quite nice and has already saved my ass. Picked out a speed trap in the city from very far away.

The patent for the arrows expired a couple of years ago I believe. I've had V1's for years and always had good luck, my main issue with the V1 is the continuous false alerts around almost every corner. I switched to Escort a few years ago when they introduced the GPS technology that automatically filters the false alerts as you drive, it takes driving past the false a few times for it to store it. You can also manually store locations. The GPS also provides red light camera and speed camera alerts. I know V1 has a loyal following but having lost it's primary competitive advantage (the arrows) I think more people are going to give Escort another look.

Ive been using the V1 for years now and I love it. Its simple to use and has saved me ten fold. I will stick to V1s but I think you can not go wrong with either one. Use a little sense and one of these and it should work out great!

$650+ a pretty significant price tag.

Does it have a battery option (like the old Passport)?

I can attest to the fact that the 360 is extremely quiet. My friends V1 chatters non-stop. The 360 also looks significantly better. I just need to get it hardwired as I hate the dangling power adapter.

I picked the 360 up before Christmas and love it. I have it wired into my mirror so no power cords dangling. My only complaint is before purchasing I asked the folks at Blendmount if the Passport Max Blendmount would work with the new 360 and they said yes. Turns out, it does not. It blocks the GPS signal so I'm currently using the suction cup mount that came with it. It works ok for now.

There is no battery option available, most people just hard wire it into the headliner.

Not sure how loud you play your music but the volume on the detector can be run pretty loud. There are also visual alerts.

Your friend needs to either have the unit upgraded or go into the menu and do some programming. Mine is still quite chatty with door openers, but I've heard stories of LEOs hiding in these areas... Otherwise the upgrade eliminated the stupid blind spot warning alert I kept getting.
