What a difference.
I know, I still owe you guys a dyno sheet.
Thanks for the update, are you gonna do a baseline dyno run and then a race chip dyno run?
Yes, I will. But I have things to get done first before I can spend my time at dyno session.
Hopefully by next week.
Also, it would be baseline vs RaceChip Ultimate default setting and probably BMS stage 1.

finally we'll get to see what the race chip can do for a n63 engine, I'm really wanting something to up the hp in my car and this will definitely help me decide what to get. all the options look good and have been dyno tested except the race chip and now we'll have some solid numbers. Thanks so much for doing this!

Autobuffoonery you will get smoother power delivery and def more than Stage1, better quality cables, weather proof case, and its already out there.
Yes they have been Dyno tested too, maybe not the 550 though.

Either way thanks RGSport! btw, from my Dyno I recall the RC new setting didn't take in effect right away, it needed a few miles to adapt. Also, I would do this:

Drive at least 50 miles on stock setting, increase 2 settings; since you have MODs you would prob be the time dyno session on F.
Do first Dyno run on highest setting like if you're currently on 1 or 0, then F, then E, D, C, B.. then baseline =D

I did the mistake of doing baseline, then C, then F, then 2, then 4 and the jump didn't quite show the real gains.

Cheers

Anyone use the Race chip with a aftermarket exhaust system? I just installed a Dinan axle back exhaust, thinking it wouldn't change anything since its just the mufflers, but after 3k rpm, when accelerating, the power is intermittent, like it pulls hard for 500 rpm, does almost nothing for another 500, than pulls again all the way to redline, like a jerky acceleration, which i really noticed after installing the exhaust. Talked to paul and he suggested a few different settings, only made it worse. Now i have a 690 dollar tune that is worthless to me.

Any suggestions on what i could try? Maybe some of you had a similar issue?

paul_sarky does it also do the same without the RC?
Maybe the vacuum line on the muffler is not connected?

Racechip driving impression

r33_RGSport,

Even if you haven't yet gotten your car on the dyno with the Racechip, can you at least comment on the overall feel and driveability compared to other tunes? Thanks.

Its connected, but I'll check again, cuz i think the passenger side line was a little short for the new exhaust and might be pinched.

You think that might be the reason?

I took the chip out today, and ran it up to redline and it was very smooth all the way up. I do have to admit, that there's a HUGE difference in power, its like i downgraded to a 6 cylinder. The pull just isnt the same.

Kickdown maybe? I know when I floor it with my stage 1 it feels like that sometimes but I have been training myself not to hit the kickdown and that really helps.

Overall feel is very good. I love it.
Ever since I sold tunes for N63/N63tu whether BMS or RaceChip, I never drove the car. I just respect the car's owner.
Overall I have sold the RaceChip to 550's, 650's, 750's and X5/X6 xDrive50's, all came up with good feedback.
You should just get it since RaceChip offers 14 days satisfaction guarantee which I honor also. I guarantee that you will love it too.

Why did you pay $690 for a tune ?

Ok, an update. Got dyno session scheduled for next wednesday.
I also just installed the BMS Stage 1.
The feel is different. My guess is because it uses different sensor.
BMS using MAP sensor while RaceChip uses TMAP sensor.

The feel relates only to the hp/torque curve as that 100% drives the experience. Very curious to see how the available tunes match up in black and white if anyone would ever actually provide the requisite data.

Frankly I'm astounded at all of the mystery. 15 years ago I did all of the dyno work at a Harley dealership and we would spend countless hours matching this cam against that cam, this pipe against that pipe, this carb kit against that carb kit, etc. Utterly baffling that no one has produced definitive Pepsi challenge numbers...

One car, one dyno, various tunes...let the games begin. Do we need a donor? I have a 2016 550i xDrive in NNJ. Let's get busy.

If racechip is able to give close to bms stage 2 numbers consider it sold!

I find it shocking that NO ONE has dynoed the racechip on the n63 platform at all. 650i, 750i, etc.. the BMS Stage 2 is too much of a risk for me with the CELS, MAF sensors frying, etc... plus I hate diving into the ecu box...

Well guys, I will dyno based on default settings on both RaceChip Ultimate and BMS stage 1 for the N63tu.
I will not dyno the possible max output.
FYI though, BMS stage 2 is only for the N63, not the N63tu.

Who has ever had a MAF sensor fry due to BMS Stage 2? Doubt that its even possible to cause that.

The N63 has weak components. Unless your dealer changed EVERYTHING during your CCP, Stage 2 is going to amplify the weakness in those bad components. Injectors, Coils, Spark plugs, OLD MAF sensors need to be replaced. I thought I was good but once I installed stage 2, I kept getting Drivetrain malfunctions whenever I floored it. But if I ran the stock map everything was fine. Turns out that I had a bad coil in bank 2 that wasn't replaced during my CCP because they had no reason to.

Since then, my car has been running like a dream on Stage 2

The N63 has been dyno'ed all over the place under BMS.
The delta would gives you an idea the difference between RaceChip Ultimate and BMS Stage 1.

I could careless what the bms can do, I was only seeking info about the race chip since this is a race chip thread. The n63tu makes more power Than the non tu n63, the majority of the people interested in this thread have older n63's so the dyno numbers won't be the same for us. So we'll still be in the dark about the non tu n63 race chip numbers.

I want to see a 2011 550 with the race chip ultimate on the dyno, if it adds the power they claim I would buy one. I already know what a bms stage 1 & 2 can do for a 2011 550, nobody asked for a comparison.

Read the n63 stage 2 info thread on bms's boards n54tech.. Terry even addresses the MAF frying problem with links on where to buy new ones...
