That isn't written for anywhere outside North America though besides it's called marketing man, they charge 2x's what other tuners here charge for the same product they gotta justify it some how.

They are at the flywheel, same as the OEM stock ratings.

I agree it's expensive, but excluding Burger's Juice Box, where else can you get 55HP for $2k? A lot of people spend much more on exhaust mods for 1/2 that gain.

Actually, they charge 5X more for similar tunes offered by Burger MotorSport ($1999 vs. $379). Take the $1,620 savings, and slam your car with some KW Coilovers.

I did read some of the benefits of the Dinan tunes: It raises the speed of the electric water pump, increase throttle and shift response. Does anyone know if BMS does this with the tune as well? Any tuner can remap the fuel/air/boost, but what else does the BMS tune comes with...?!

Burger motorsports encourages customers to commit warranty fraud while Dinan stands by their product with warranty coverage. Dinan has my business.

That's a bit harsh of a claim, no? I have neither on my car as I am waiting to see if in time they can find more hp. If I recall, I think there are multiple stories about Dinan and there so called "warranty".

So, how does the warranty works?

If the HPFP/Cylinder or turbo fails who pays for it? BMW or Dinan?

That is the million dollar question!

Supposedly, Dinan claims that they will pay for the parts and labor charges in dispute because of their flash. They market that any internal dispute between themselves and BMW on warranty claims would be transparent to the end user, as they would pay and then hash it out with BMW afterwards.

I asked on the forums before purchasing the Dinan flash about actual warranty payouts by Dinan. Nobody presented a case of an actual coverage event, probably because the tune is very mild and the additional wear and tear will not be noted until you reach 6-digit miles. This has been proven by thousands of N54 users who increased their power to levels significantly higher than what Dinan offers.

It's even pricer than that. The chances that a stock N55 is truly 300 HP are slim, given that BMW has a reputation for under-rating their engines. The Dinan flash is most certainly torque based.

This is where the finger pointing starts. Technically, installing software voids your BMW manufacturer power-train warranty. All reasonable warranty claim that's traceable back to the increase in power gain, falls on Dinan's shoulder.

The way I see it, Dinan charges 5X more for the same tune offered by BMS. The extra money goes into their insurance bucket to cover warranty claims.

To give Dinan credit, I haven't heard any horror stories of them not living up to their warranty claim. But, it does take longer than usual to get your car fix while BMW and Dinan arm wrestles.

Message from Dinan on 03/13 regarding status...............

We have been making good progress on the communication “challenges”. Wouldn’t be surprised if they have this cracked in the next month or so.

Nope they are still "working" on it. I have a feeling that this won't be out at least until summer of 2013...

The main difference is that the PP tune isn't available in the states....
