I should have the rear F07 bar this week. Dealer updated us Friday, I'll update the thread as soon as I have it.

Ok, F07 bar arrived today. We are finally able to test fit this piece and I will report back.

Dang! It doesn't work. We tried to fit the F07 GT M Sport rear bar and no matter what, it just won't work. Looks like the swing arms are unique to the F07, so this is creating an issue with our F10 550i M Sport.

Sorry guys, wish I had better news. But at least we have confirmation.

That really sucks. Is the shape of the bar different? What if you used more parts off the F07? On oem's website it looks like it would work. Thanks for trying for all of us though.

Looks like the only option now is the 16mm m550dx rear bar...

Yeah, we aren't defeated just yet. So we will try to figure something else out, maybe mess with different links or even change the mounting point.

Just wondering...Why would the F07 16mm rear bar fit and not 18mm?

The M550d is not a F07, but f10 and f11.

Thanks for the clarification. Ahhh...the F10 M550d. What a nice combination of power, features, and fuel efficeincy. We can't get the M550d in the States, pity, but on the other hand, we don't have a as many diesel fuel supply stations compared to petrol.

But, back to Alan L's comment. That we may be stuck with the 16mm bar might not be that bad since its about a 12% increase in diameter and, I believe, the torsional stiffness will be increased by even a greater factor (I read on a Porsche enthusiast forum an interesting point: "...The effective spring rate (stiffness) of a swaybar is proportional to the bar diameter raised to the 4th power. If all other variables remain the same (bar length, arm length, material selection, etc., a 10% increase in diameter results in a 46% increase in stiffness" ref: Bosch Automotive Handbook, 4th edition, page 284 for the complete equation and diagram).

So, if a 16mm rear bar is our only choice, then it'll be a viable option for me.

The swing arms have the sway bar end link mount cast into it on both the F10 and F07. So the F07 bar wouldn't line up properly. Even with a longer link, the angle would defeat the purpose of having the bar.

We are ordering the M550d next. Let's try this a third time. :\

Looking at this site and plugging in the part # the F11 and F07 share rear sway bars.

http://www.bmwstore.pl/pl/katalog/pr...ni-z-pod-gumow

Someone mentioned that the F11 M550dx is also 18mm but that doesn't seem like it would work since the F07 bar doesn't.

Joe - Would you think the F07 bar would work even if you bought F07 swing arms?

For us Xi guys with EDC the F10 M550dx might not be worth the trouble because according to realoem my stock rear bar is already 15mm so only 1mm difference if i did this. Argh!

Alan how is it with just the m5 front bar any updates on the rear yet? Not sure if 1mm is worth it in the rear, if a 18mm fit I would do it but 15-16? I doubt it.

My BMW is a 2012 535i with the sport package. It has the sport and sport+ with the 8 speed steptronic auto transmission that allows you to manually shift through each gear. It's the 3.0 6 cylinder with the twin turbo. Among other items included with the sports package, is the Dynamic Damper Control.

Well, I jacked up the rear end this morning to take a look at the rear sway bar. I was really surprised and a bit disappointed to see the diameter of the rear sway bar. It is very weak looking. It's about the diameter of my index finger. I am going to swap the front sway bar out for the M5. But, I'd really like to replace the rear too.

Joe, I'm eager to hear what you find out with the 550d option. In the meantime, I would like to hear anyone's thoughts/feedback/experience with the M5 sway bar on the front with the weaker stock rear sway bar left as is. Any issues?

Even with just the front M5 bar the car feels so much better than before so IMO well worth the $.

Has anyone measured the diameter of their stock front sway bar and compared it to the M5 bar?

My M5 front sway bar has just arrived and it's going to be fitted on my Euro N20 528i (not Xi) tonight.

with Pilot Super Sport tires and Eibach spring I still feel F10 is definitely inferior to my Ex-E39 530i in terms of handling, especially managing sharp corners.

See whether the M5 front say bar works in 528i
