Buying online in the UK

When I come to change my F10 530D shortly for a new LCI model, I am considering trying to get a good price through an online dealer - has anybody any recent experience of this who could give me the benefit of their experience?

Thanks

I was going to go down this route on my recently ordered LCI 520D MSport. I looked online (orangewheels, broadspeed and Drivethedeal, to see what prices were achievable. I also looked at 'What Car's' expect to pay guide. Then armed with that I went to my 3 local dealers.

One dealer ended up beating the best online quote by over £2k (and offered me strong money on my part ex). Mine was a factory order too, so not something lying around in stock either. It was a PCP deal, so no doubt there is some incentive for them to chase down finance deals.

Sometimes it's worth seeing what dealers are willing to go to.

Happy to PM you the dealers details if you're in the SE. (Edit, now on laptop and see you are 'up North')

I found the same results as what Beancouter is saying, I also bought an LCI model on factory order. My dealer was cheaper than online companies. Just find out all your facts and figures first then go and see a local dealer. if they won't play ball go to the next. I am also in Yorkshire

To add....... I'm not sure how much truth there is in this, but my dealer was telling me that BMW (or maybe it was just 'their specific Group') is diverting advertising spend in the UK towards sales incentives, thereby offering greater discounts to secure sales rather than spending big bucks on glossy events/mailshots etc and then offering next to nothing by way of discount.

To be honest, who cares, but if it means we as buyers get better deals, I'm all for it
