Tire and Rim Insurance Thru BMW

I ordered a 14 535ix last month and it should be here in 2 weeks. I have not finalized (signed for) the deal yet but put 2k down to hold the order (its a lease in which we have worked the numbers). The Finance manager spoke to me briefly and offered me BMW Tire and Rim insurance for the term of my lease (36 months) at $2100. I think this is a rip off and wondering if anyone else has negotiated their price down. Im in NYC and definitely want the insurance. the car has 19" Rims so its worth its weight in gold. Any help appreciated on whats a fair price to pay.

Just for your reference, back in 2011 for my f10 535xi, i paid ~1400 for 5yr BMW tire insurance. Back then it was a $0 deductible, which i believe has been converted to $50 deductible now due to the high volume of claims because of the crappy run flats. If they wont budge I'd say skip it.

I paid 900 for my insurance. 0 deductible and used it to the capped limit of $5000 at which point I am no longer covered. I have to say that I either blanked on the capped amount or was not told about it. Either way I felt it was a good investment. If you are in NYC you definitely need some sort of tire/wheel insurance because of the horrid streets. I think you need to talk to different dealerships and see what they offer. 2100 is definitely a rip off.

Tire protection Insurance

I guess you should have your new car by now along with your tire insurance.
I just picked up my car this past Saturday.
The tire insurance was offered to me at $1500.00 for a five year period. I brought the 2014 X3. I was not told about any deductibles.

I was allowed a few days to think it over. I decided to purchase the package and got it today. I feel content now, incase I damage a couple of tires

I guess the price varies, and it depends on what kind of car one has. $1389 for your X3 is close to the $1500 I paid for my X3.

The price is definitely negotiable. I just paid a little under $1300 (don't have the paperwork in front of me), but my dealership stopped using the official BMW program and said that many dealers have switched to the Allstate one since BMW is giving owners a hard time -- arguing sometimes that the pothole damage looks like curb damage (which isn't covered under BMW's plan).

Dealer asked me if I wanted, so I asked what kind of tires were on my new 535dX. When I saw that they were the same as I had on my 2011 535iX with Eagle LS2 ROFs, I said "sold" ! Over the course of 3 years, I had to replace 4 tires due to both sidewall bubbles and one 2" sidewall gash (MAJOR pothole).

The gash incident sold me on ROF. Always wondered how good they were. Was on a dark mountain road with no shoulder when we hit something and it went flat, but was able to drive home 40 miles home at around 45-50mph without any difficulty. Had no idea how bad the tire was until the next morning.

I purchased a CPO 335xi and paid $2200 for BMW tire insurance for 5 years, no deductible, as far as I've used it, no cap. Since 2010, I've had runflat 3 tires replaced. If you ask me, it's well worth the peace of mind and service. My 2 cents.

insurance is getting moronic

If you lease the car, you have to be crazy to buy the insurance at $2K with $50 deductible per incident. I leased my F10 from Bayside BMW (whom I would ABSOLUTELY never even step inside of again), and they quoted $1850 plus tax. So, to replace 4 tires and wheels, it would cost me at least $2200! That's nuts.

I told them no way, given that you can buy a set of take offs on eBay with like new or brand new tires for less than $1000 with sensors. Then you have 4 wheels and 4 tires to play with. If you don't use them, sell them at close of lease. I even got free shipping.

Wheel and tire insurance as a no-brainer is dead. Now different story w owning the car given it's a longer term investment. When i owned other BMWs and Mini's I cared a little more. But I felt foolish when I got rid of the car after a year or 2 and had all that time left on the policy.

Guys - you don't have to buy the insurance from the dealer you get your car from if they won't budge. I haven't looked in a year or so but back then it was possible to get it for < $1,000.

So the premium doubled in a year? Doubtful, though the roads and general trend with low profile tires isn't helping: underwriters are dealing with people claiming 20+ tires/ wheels over the term, admittedly, a minority but just saying...

More people need to complain to their cities so they bring in companies which will do a respectable job at laying down the roads and not milk it over 20 years being in perpetual repair/ fix mode. NYC is not busy turning every pothole into a bump by pouring in a mix and walking away. Ridiculous....

Can anyone recommend any alternative tire insurance companies to buy a policy from? I just got my 535xi and declined the dealer policy but would like to look for cheaper options/partial coverage

there is more then one tire/rim insurance you can get when your getting your new car but i 100% say get it unless you don't care about spending money im getting my 2014 535xi m sport soon and in NJ pot holes are serious and since a rim goes for over $700 and a tire is just as expensive it will pay off to get it cause your covered and they give you a new tires and rims if they crack bend bubbles tears nails i mean its going to be replaced at no additional cost to you and no labor cost i don't know why anyone wouldn't get this option if you live in the tri-state area

I just bought my '11 535 from JMK in NJ, there telling me $1595 for 3 years or & 17 hundred something for 5 years plus tax no deductible. Anyone know another way to get this? Thru an insurance company or this is strictly a dealer thing? I myself have them 19' rims but I drive from upstate to the city everyday. But I need that peace of mind. I was thinking of buying the 18" rims from the base 535 xdrive and putting snow tires on them, but will that ruin my suspension?

Is it though Safeguard insurance? If so, I've heard bad things about them; namely dismissing claims for no good reason, other than saving them from having to honor the claim.
