Considering Forgestar wheels in textured black
I am going to order a set of Forgestar F14 wheels in black for my Space Gray F10. I'm dead set on the color combo, but I am undecided on the finish. I have narrowed it down to Matte Black (which is basically a satin finish) and Textured Black (which is a true matte finish).
My questions: a) any thoughts? opinions? b) does anyone here have experience with the textured black? Is it hard to clean or keep clean? Does it look nice in person? Photos look great, but I have never seen one in person Here is the textured black on a 6 series: http://www.forgestar.com/blog/pics/white650f6.jpg http://www.forgestar.com/blog/pics/white650f2.jpg Here is the matte black on an F10: http://www.forgestar.com/blog/pics/bf10m1.jpg http://www.forgestar.com/blog/pics/bf10m2.jpg Thanks in advance! |

I just got mine two days ago. I ordered CF10 texture black. I prefer texture black becasue not many people are using this color, and the color is lighter than matte black. however, they take about five to six weeks to make it, but the fitment is so perfect. and i got it for 1650 USD. never pay more than that. let me know if you have any more questions.

20" Kelleners Hamburg in black, an option?
I have 20" Kelleners Hamburg in black w/245 / 284 Michelin PSS on my Alpine White 2012 525d x-drive. Look much better i real life than on pictures.

I wanted to buy forgestar wheels, but there seem to a number of stories across different forums about cracked wheels. I know that cracking can happen with any wheel, but still a little frightening. Has has one here experience that?

No issues for me! And I have hit some nasty potholes that caught me by surprise—and the wheels were fine. Considering how low profile my tires are, that says a lot about the wheel, in my opinion.

hey 12 No experience with a cracked wheel.. but just as you mentioned...damage can happen to any wheel given the right friggin pot hole. I have a very slight bend on just the outer lip on 1 of my front bronze F14s on my 535, only noticeable if you really stare at it or if you look at it from an angle. San Francisco bay area, 880 north under the San Mateo bridge overpass, a spot on our crappy N Cal freeway where the big rigs continuously tear up an asphalt to cement transition... I swerved to the right but still managed to hit the "uneven step" at about 75 mph with the front left wheel. Look at the 1st pic, the lip is bent right near the valve stem but not real noticeable if you are looking at it from the side unless you are OCD like me. Now look at the 2nd pic...staring down at the sidewall bead, this is where it is more obvious. It doesn't help that my wheels are hella dirty in this pic and the clean spot on the bent area makes its more noticeable...when they are consistently clean or dirty, it is not as obvious. Other than annoying the hell out of me when I happen to see it, no other issues (no leak, no uneven balance, etc). So I still think these are strong wheels and would imagine a more inexpensive wheel would probably have a more obvious bend given the same stretch of freeway. I imagine NY highways are similar, so think of it this way... if its gonna happen, at least its a $400 wheel vs a $1500 one. For these kind of bends, if you sell the wheels, just get them repaired.
