f11 almost there, recent quad exhaust pics.

Im almost at the end of what i set out to do with my f11, last on the list will just be performance upgrades like a remap, dpf and egr delete, terraclean etc.

Here are some pics of my new quad system-no backbox's.

Yup, muffler delete, saved a good 40pounds in weight aswell. Apparently only possible due to it being a diesel, the petrol needs a muffler/backbox to create back pressure or something?

Thanks i have the 4cylinder 520d msport. And no downsides other than it will be a little bit more of a throatier noise.

Here in the uk it will pass an mot just fine and engine does not respond any differently perfomance wise.

Please correct me if im wrong though as im no mechanic

I know from previous threads the muffler delete at least on the 535's have a bit of lag.

As long as its not smoking its tits off, it should pass the smoke test, the engines are pretty efficient anyway so im quite hopeful.

If not i can always get a silencer fitted at a later date

To be honest the 520d doesnt really rock my world in the performance stakes anyway, remap will help but its still a big ole heavy lump and for that fact along i dont drive it like i did my e90 so havent really felt any turbo lag as yet. Maybe the remap will shed more light?

that's ok then. what about the DPF delete?

Won't that effect the MOT for emissions? i know this is quite a common 'mod' on diesel engines.

Apparently not, ive done quite abit of research now on mot test procedures and basically unless there was something wrong with your engine causing it to smoke more than usuall theres no way an f10/11 diesel engine will fail a uk mot smoke test. Just goes to prove how much engine development has progressed in the last decade

Love this car more and more. I'd take this over any family van or SUV, if I had kids that is.
