Production BMW 5-Series GT caught testing in Munich
The production version of the BMW 5-series GT continues road testing in Germany and the car seems to follow the "concept" car, that was shown off last month, nearly verbatim. These latest shots are high-resolution and shot in real world lighting which I believe show off the true curves of this car that were somewhat lost in the press release photos that were under heavy lighting. Seeing the car in real world conditions confirms to ME that this car has some very well thought out styling cues and will look great from most angles. However, there is no hiding that high trunk that will be an instant turn off for many, but for them, the standard 5-series will be a better fit anyway. This car is everyway meant for a family

I think it looks great so far, aside from the concept's hideous color. I'm dying to see what the F10 M5 looks like.

5 Series
That front end is starting to look a little Volvo-licious. And not necessarily in a good way.

I'm just wondering why should anyone buy a 5 series GT over the sedan? I mean the car looks alright, it's nice actually, but whats the real point? And it sure looks better in white or black than in this color.

The shape of the rear half reminds me too much of the Toyota Prius (especially from the 2nd pic), which in my opinion is really not that of a looker...

It appears that BMW engineers have been droppin' the hammer and really pushing themselves into new territory...
Take for instance their "driver" with a shape-shifting face, as to be completely undectable! Surely some type of human/mutant hybrid capable of gargantuan strengths were someone to try and steal this 5er GT prototype from him!

PAS(s) !!!
Front and side may work out and have a lot of potential, the rear is fugly, just doesn't remind you of a bmw but an asian car ... especially when you watch the side curve into the rear, way too abrupt ... I know a lot of people didn't like bangle (hell he did design the multipla before going to BMW, although i do think bmw paid him to make fiat look rediculous lol) but the bangle butts and bangle generation beemers are still beauties hope the regular sedan fiver keeps its looks alive |

So many people complaining and ranting about Chis Bangle design direction. This is Ultimately Disgusting. Who knows, maybe this is one of his last pet projects coming to life before he left.

Is there really a niche market between the 5er Sedan and Touring? Just because it can be done, doesn't mean that it should be done.
This vehicle - and the 3er GT which will follow - is totally unneccesary, and I suspect the sales figures will agree. |

I fail to see the point of this car. Just like the X6 it is an attempt to fill a non-existing market niche. With the 1,3,5,6,7,X3,X5 already available, there is more than enough choice for everyone to find a car that suits their personal needs/tastes.
