How do these things work?

Does there have to be a wireless AP in the neighborhood?

Yes, they require a wireless access point and an internet connection. They also have ethernet ports on the back.

So why does it need both a wifi AND internet?
I figured the movie would be subpar quality on wireless alone. But why wireless if its connected?

I know this is a 2 months old thread but dude I seriously hope you waited on that player, because you can get a ps3 now new for $300 and used from $230 and you can stream Netflix for free as of now off the ps3.
