ActiveHybrid 5 (F10) will bow at the Geneva Autoshow

So far, ActiveHybrid cars have been interesting reads, but very much out of reach for the average BMW enthusiast. The system has exclusively been fit to the 7 series and X6, two of the most expensive cars in the BMW lineup. Whats worse, the mere addition of Active Hybrid to those cars has shot the price tag up even higher.

Now for the good news, the system is working its way down the lineup, and will arrive under the hood of the new F10 5-series. While, its a near guarantee that the car will be very expensive, it should be much more affordable and attainable then the ActiveHybrid 7 and X6.

When the new 5-series officially bows at the Geneva Autoshow in March, it will be entering into some serious competition with the newly released E-Class and similar offerings from Lexus and Audi. Don't forget the domestic makes as well. But because of the fact that this is a tough crowd to fight in, BMW is likely to be aggressive with it's pricing, and with similar hybrids coming from the competition, the ActiveHybrid 5 could be seriously within reach.

As of now, BMW has not released any kind of details on what the technicals behind the system will be, when the car would be available or the pricing structure. We hope to find out more at the Geneva autoshow, but for now you can read up on the system in the 7 series here: http://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...0&d=1222120454

Scott bmwblog reported that the car will have a 218hp engine plus electric. Is that true? I'm hoping for a N55.
