BMW has been presented with two accolades at this year's Fleet World Honors - Best Executive Car award for the 2011 5-series and Fleet Manufacturer of the Year award for BMW overall. Steve Moody, judge panel chairman, explained: 'The new BMW 5 Series has taken the executive sector up yet another notch, with an engine line-up second to none for emissions and performance, generous standard specification, superb whole-life costs, class-leading residual values and a quality unparalleled even in this extremely competitive market.' Of BMW's Manufacturer of the Year award, Mr. Moody says: 'BMW continues to forge ahead with a range of new cars whose low emissions and performance set the standard in the market, for both premium and volume brands. Added to that it has had a good year with its core fleet products, scoring highly from the leasing companies in our awards analysis on customer support, reliability and residuals, and has also launched a new division that caters for small business.' These two latest accolades build on last year’s win, when the BMW 3 Series took home Fleet Car of the Year 2009. Source: http://www.fleetworldgroup.co.uk/new...le=598&clk=434

Congratulations to BMW. Depending on the terms of reference, the award is likely quite fair. The 5-series cars are elegant and well built, their weak point will be the unreliability of some of their components, which they share with the 3-series. The poor reliability might be of little consideration in an executive car.

The E90 is one (if not THE) of the most reliable lease/companycars here at the Westeuropean continent (Germany and Netherlands ie) for the last few years (exceeding Toyotas etc)So with my experience I don't know what you are talking about, me having had 3 E90's in a row and a total of 90000 miles with no problems whatsoever.Including trackdays(Yes the bloody brakes on the M3... I know) |
