F10 520d

Hey All.... Lol... I thought that I would be the first poster in the OZ 5er Forum! My dad has just purchased his SG 520d... we won't receive it until Jan '11 but looking forward to it!

Hey Zender...Lurking on the F10 site I see?

I was looking at an SG 520d today at the local dealer (Had to get some warranty work on my 2 month old LCI X5, but that's another story!) Looks sweet - love the instrument cluster!

The only thing that concerns me is the grunt. As a fellow E9x M3 driver, you'd know what I mean! I'm VERY keen to see the F10 535d if and when it comes here!

Woah, looks like we are all coming here! lol! Unfortunately, there's no real diesel option. Would have been good there's a 540d.

Hi zenderm3,

I'm interested in a 520D myself as well -- do you know what options you dad has bought and what price he has paid?

Thanks!

Looks like BMWAUS have brought over the 535d! 220kw/600nm. I find it strange that it's not badged the 540d, and that we don't have a 530d option.

Gents,

Yeap looked at both the 535d and the 520d... With options the pricing for the 535d just didn't stack up. And since I won't be driving this beast that often - We couldn't justify Dad getting a more powerful engine. (not for the $25k difference in price!)

I did convince dad to get the option of the sports transmission with sports shifters... sweet

The 528i will be changing over to the 2.0T I4 this November. I lament the loss of the NA I6

I got my 520d last week. I have to say it has plenty of grunt.

With 135kw and 380Nm, as well as the weight savings of a smaller lighter 4 cylinder engine up front, makes the whole package feel more nimble than a car that size deserves to be.

My brother is looking into getting a f10 520d. Has anyone who already have one come across any issues or concerns that maybe important to consider? What options are a must have?
cheers for your input.

I just collected my 520d with business navigation, xenon, comfort and heated seats. Sophisto with cinnamon. Very impressed with the engine. Best diesel I've driven. Can't tell it's a diesel, minimal lag. Sports transmission is fantastic.

Hey All, I've been a little absent from the forums, Dad's 520d is fantastic! Works a treat, he has the Parking Assist, Internet, Prof Nav, Auto Doors, Tailgate Assist, Pretty much every option

Only frustration is that it doesn't have the full colour HUD.

Driving experience is awesome!

Looks great Soupratt!

I'm getting a 535d sports in Carbon Black next week. Trying to get some ideas about aftermarket 20" wheels, but the OEM 19" 351M's do look pretty good too

Hi Ezza8
You might find the ride with 20" rather uncomfortable. The 19"s can be a bit rough sometimes. For looks yeah, but for comfort, stick with 18" or 19". In the long run you will be much happier.
