2011 5-series and X3 Contend for 2011 Car of The Year Award

The 2011 5-series (F10) and 2011 X3 (F25) are 2 of 41 contenders named for the 2011 Car of The Year Award.

A total of 41 candidates are eligible for Car of the Year 2011 award. A number that grows bigger when body versions and derivatives are considered. All of the contenders are new vehicles available now or soon in five or more European markets, and each has the prospect of at least 5,000 yearly sales. The voting process has two stages. The first one will produce a short list of seven nominees, which will be announced on 2 November. The second round will find the single winner that will be made known on November 29th, 2010.

Don't worry(/bother) about this, BMW has never won this award. With previous winners like Polo, Clio, Panda, Yaris... you know what they are voting for.

Garage List
it boggles my mind that hardly a civilian has driven the x3 yet it could be car of the year. I think car of the year should be car which saves the most lives from life-threatening accidents. This is more like prototype of the year.
