My new F10 M-sport - some photos!

Finally got some pictures organised; please excuse the odd colour cast in some, I had the camera on the wrong white balance setting. Reminds me of my old school reports: 'could try harder'!
Collected the car last Tuesday, drove home in the pissing rain, washed it, got it into the garage, wheels off and applied 2 coats of Werkstat Acrylic Jett to the bodywork and Poorboys sealant on the wheels, which took most of Wednesday.
Cost of materials from 'Polished Bliss' at Kintore: £30; 'BMW Seal & Protect' for £300 - I don't think so .
Still got more than half the Werkstat left for another go tomorrow, as a result of repeated encounters with roads covered in filthy farmer's muck , but that's the way of things up here at this time of year.
Specs/options:
1. 535d M Sport
2. Adaptive Drive/18" Wheels
3. Sport Auto
4. Adaptive Xenon Headlights
5. Pro Sat Nav
6. Comfort Seats-heated
7. Rear Camera
8. DAB
9. Split-fold

Gorgeous car, AW with M sport is fantastic.
You've got the right car for Scotland's glorious roads.

Why all the trouble with the sealant? What are the benefits and how often do you have to repeat it?

Absolutely no trouble at all, it's just a high quality spray-on/wipe-off polish and surface protectant, the equivalent of BMW dealer applied 'Seal and Protect', but at a small fraction of the cost.
The benefit is that, as hopefully noted in the pictures, you get a nice shiny car. It's also supposed to give protection against UV light and surface contaminants, or at least that's what the blurb says!
I don't yet know how often it'll have to be reapplied; water beading will tell. However, it's very easy to use - just lightly spray one panel at a time, then immediately wipe off and buff to a shine.

Congrats. After months of waiting.

Wheels are ok but too small imo for the bodywork, but for Scottish roadconditions sufficient....

Okay, sounds easy enough. I'm gonna give it a try.
Thanks.

It wasn't months of waiting, just 46 days from order to delivery .
I know what you mean about the wheels, but I didn't go for the 19" option as I didn't like the spoke design. Once the winter's passed I'll seriously consider 19 or 20 inch V-spoke 281 style wheels.

I agree they really missed the boat on the wheels.

Even the M sport 19 are lame.

Usually the M sport wheels are the nice, not sure what BMW was thinking.

Hi Jon D,

Congrats - looks great!!

Can you give me a comparison of the Adaptive Drive in Sports mode vs your previous 330d M Sport? Also, where would you place the Adaptive Drive in normal mode relative to a standard suspension setup? Do you find the handling acceptable in normal mode? I'm keen for your opinion as a previous E90 M Sport owner on similar roads to what we have here in Northern Ireland.

I've read somewhere that the standard UK setup is between normal and sport but I assume this is referring only to damping and the Anti-roll stabilizers provide additional benefit.

Thanks,

David

It's a bit too early to tell as I'm taking it reasonably easy for the first 1,500 miles.
However, thus far I feel that, in Sport mode, the car corners almost as well as the E92 M and considering that it's a significantly larger car, I reckon that's quite something, especially as the ride is nowhere near as bone-jarring, but that's probably, in no small part, due to the tyres.
I only use normal and comfort modes in and around town to soak up the bumps and pot-holes. I haven't done any motorway driving yet, but normal might be good in those conditions too.
My only slight criticism is that the steering is not nearly as responsive as on the old car, but it's not comparing like with like and the reduction in feel might also be exacerbated by the tyres; I shall seriously consider upgrading to 20" wheels after the winter.

Congratulations!! A beautiful car

Do justice after the winter and get some serious wheels on that machine. I have gone for the 19" wheels on my car but i agree with the comments elsewhere the choice is woefully inadequate for the M Sport Model. If you get a chance take a look at the wheels on the white X3 at the paris motor show, that is what i call M Sport!

I have been contacting dealers to have a look at an m-sport before mine arrives... this week i gave up as they are rare as rocking horse sh*t at the moment AND so the first M-Sport i will see in the metal is mine :-) I have a AW with black out grills, black msport 19s and Msport spoiler! i can't wait to see it!
