2012 M5 (F10) Returns to Winter Testing

The F10 M5 has been spotted undergoing another season's worth of winter testing in northern Sweden. It's spotted here with snow wheels/tires for testing purposes and are not the wheels we've come to know as the production wheels. The last time we saw the F10 M5 during winter testing it was nearly completely camouflaged, but it's been over 9 months of slow strip tease by BMW since then. The mirrors are also from the regular F10 5-series. The significance of these photos is simply that the M5 continues testing, now in the wintery conditions of Sweden.

We have posted some older spy photos below (from the Nurburgring) which shows what the production front bumper, rear bumper, side mirrors, and wheels will resemble.

The F10 M5 concept will bow at the 2011 Geneva show in March 2011 and the production M5 is expected to premier at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA autoshow in September 2011. Euro deliveries will begin in November 2011 and US deliveries begin in Spring 2012.

Is it just me, or do the fenders in the winter shots look a bit more wide and aggressive?

Probably the angle but it does look like the rear fenders are a bit bigger. The brakes are huge!!!!!

^ I agree, fenders definitely look bigger and the brakes look big! it would be nice if they maybe incorporate the ///M logo or something on the brakes.

If you look really closely you can see the ///M stamp in the rotor hat.

That green and blue thing next to the brake pistons is a sensor to mesure something, maybe the temperature? :x

Those brakes! They're probably an indicator of how heavy this pig will be.

Wait, new wheels? These are not the wheels from the M-sport. If you look the spokes are different. I like these wheels but I'm not sure because I always thinks the M5 should have multi-spokes like the E60 and E39. 5 spokes would suit the M6 better.

However that said, I'm not a fan of the new wheels for the M5. They have too many spokes. E60 wheels are better.

This will be an awesome car!

One quick note though: the tires on the first picture are not the same ones as in the last picture. The first ones seem to be Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero Serie II and the ones in the last picture (wheel shot) are Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D (I have these too).

Did anyone notice in the second picture that there is another car filling up at the gas station? Four door coupe? Any ideas what it may be?

I believe its another F10 M5 being tested.

Its very common for them to test 2 cars together...not sure why. But we've seen it before

Looks like an evolution of the E60 M5's M Style 184 winter spec wheels except in black!
