DIY: Interior LED Lights

A few people asked me how to replace the interior LED lights so I decided to just do this post to share it with everyone.

I got my LED lights from http://store.ijdmtoy.com/ No Error Code

Door light, Glove Compartment, Trunk: very simple, just use a flathead to pop it out

Foot light: just pop the left side of the light

It should look like this

Just twist the cover and will be able to replace the lights

Rear dome light: Just have to pop out the clips that surround the doom light. The 2 reading bulbs are harder to get out so I used double sided tape and just tape it to the bulbs and pull them out.

Mirror Light: Just pull out the cover and unplug the wire and remove the metal clip.

Front Dome Light: You have to remove the black cover and you should see 4 holes. You need to use a small flathead and push the clips that's in the L shape holes. (might require a bit of force) And then you just have to pull the surrounding clips around the dome light.

Enjoy your new LED lights

Great job!

Would you mind sharing exactly which bulbs at ijdmstore you actually used in the install above?

Also would using aftermarket bulbs void the BMW warranty?

I think you will need 14 bulbs for the whole car. And it would void the BMW warranty but you could just change it when you bring your car in.

I bought the 2.0 LED set. They gave me 21 bulbs but I only used 18, which is weird because I don't see any more lights so did they just sell me a 21 bulb kit set when our car only has 18 bulbs? Anyways, the lights look great and thanks kyheang12 for the write up! The pictures helped a lot because I've tried a few times to do this but kept failing. I'm still confused on the front domes so I just kinda did it my own way. The 3M double sided tape does help in removing some of the bulbs!

Thanks for the pics. I just did this install today. Very easy. Bulbs were very hot so be careful when removing them. I also found another site the sells the bulbs cheaper if anyone cares.

Hey smoke,

no I did not get any error codes after installing the lights. The color I got was Xenon White, which is the color you see in the pics in the original post. They look great in person. I was so happy with the way they made the interior look.

Why would this void warranty....even down to bulbs you need bmw...ie if you replace tires they do not need to be exact brand just runflat etc and of accepted brand

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to do this on the new X3 (F25). The overhead console looks to be extremely similar if not the same as the F10 (based on these pictures). I'm a little bit confused about changing out the bulbs for the dome light.

When you mentioned inserting a flat head to press on the clips in the L holes, then pulling on the surrounding clips around the dome light, which surrounding clips are you referring to? Is it the clips for the whole overhead console?

That trunk bulb looks interesting. Anyone know what type to get to replace it?
